On your point of the shows being up to date: Maybe they integrate MTV shows on to All-Access and advertise All Access during the show - Example: “hey do you like Geordie Show, well you can watch all 5 seasons on 10 All Access.
When Ten broadcast The Osbournes, were the episodes first aired on MTV Australia?
Think you are onto something here mate. It Lets MTV double dip essentially. First the paytv crowd, then the FTA crowd.
Win Win for everyone.
Mediaweek’s James Manning talking to Ten CEO Paul Anderson.
It appears we can conclude that there will be no Ten owned free-to-air version of MTV Australia.
Oh so the Blackbox article wasn’t right then. Oh well.
Not sure how that means that there will be no 10 owned free to air version of MTV when CBS hasn’t done the takeover yet…
So are you saying it’s possible the CEO has no clue that a Ten multichannel might be added? If an MTV channel is being added surely he would know and be involved.
I am not sure where to put this but a few hours ago Sydney Morning Herald. Had a title of :
Ten to launch new TV channel with hopes of leapfrogging rival
Which has now vanished from their website and comes up in error. However, I did find this part of the suppose article.
Network Ten will unveil a fourth TV channel this year as part of its plan to claim more under-50s viewers from Seven and Nine. While Ten is yet to specify the channel’s name or when it will launch , it will likely have a broad format similar to its Peach and Bold multichannels – not a narrow theme such as SBS Food.
Could it actually be the rumoured MTV channel, with hybrid of Nick content
Perhaps it may be the previously rumoured MTV multichannel covered by @blackbox’s blog considering the ViacomCBS merger has now been completed?
Edit: I see we have the same thinking
Expect this to be announced tomorrow then I guess. TV Tonight has indicated that 10 will announce its plan for the rest of the year tomorrow and an article like that disappearing so quickly could mean it went up too early.
Yes but I didn’t expect them to announce a 4th channel in the process.
Please be HD.
Please be HD.
Please be HD.
Realistically I know this won’t turn out to be the case (I’m fully expecting HD simulcasts to be turned off again within the next year or two in favour of more multichannels full of programs I don’t care for), but my personal preference is for a HD version of 10 BOLD and/or 10 Peach before a 4th channel.
I’m predicting (with no insider knowledge) Paramount Network.
Registered in 2017 (also could just be prepping to change Spike’s name which is on Fetch). https://search.ipaustralia.gov.au/trademarks/search/view/1824538?q=paramount+network
Also PARAMOUNTNETWORK.COM.AU registered in January to a company in the US that protects corporations IP assets.
AFR is reporting it is expected to be a general entertainment channel targeting under 50s.
“As we do with our other channels, we’ll call content from various sources, but you’d expect us to ultilise the content that’s within our greater family.”
-Ten chief sales officer Rod Prosser.
Hopefully they won’t call it something stupid like 10 Eggplant.
10
10
That doesn’t sound like MTV at all then, which is extremely niche.
Could be Paramount - which is basically a premium drama brand like FX or TCM or TNT
But also could be a new 10 brand
Viacom International has put Paramount on Free to air in the UK and Spain, and also on cable in Canada, Italy, Denmark, Sweden and across Latin America
so could
Be that
