Nickelodeon (formerly 10Shake)

10 were a main sponsor years ago and broadcast the full 5pm bulletin from the show with Ron Wilson and Jessica Rowe in the last 90s I think.

I know that they sponsor it in Melbourne.

Next Friday’s schedule (29 April):
7.30: The Graham Norton Show - rpt
8.30: The Graham Norton Show - rpt
9.30: TBA
10.30: Daniel Tosh: Happy Thoughts (stand-up show)
11.30: James Corden (as normal)

The above 7.30-11.30pm slots were initially airing on Ten on Friday nights late last year until The Living Room returned just recently. Noted as “Comedy Night” as such, but it didnt do that well in the shares for 10. It didn’t suit 10 that well. This sort of Comedy Nights is more suited to 10 Shake. And adds something different rather than just South Park and The Office airings.

6pm this Saturday for the 2 hour premiere, also streaming on Paramount+.

It has been retitled Rock Island Mysteries and premieres on 10 Shake next Monday (May 2) at 5pm, continuing on weekdays. It is a 20 x 22minute series.

Brand New Australian Series, Rock Island Mysteries Premieres Monday, 2 May At 5pm On 10 Shake And 10 Play On Demand.

Shot on the sun-drenched beaches and jungle-like hinterlands of Australia’s Gold Coast, Rock Island Mysteries is a mystery drama comedy series that follows the adventures of 14-year-old Taylor and her friends as they explore the secrets of the beautiful and mysterious Rock Island.

Produced by Fremantle Media, the new teen series will make its global premiere on Monday, 2 May at 5pm on 10 Shake and 10 Play. The series will then debut across Nickelodeon Australia and New Zealand from June 2022 and broadcast to global audiences on Nickelodeon International later in the year.

Featuring a diverse main cast anchored by Australian leads, the series follows the adventures of Taylor Young (Alexa Curtis), a charismatic and energetic leader, and her tight-knit group of friends – Nori Harlow (Noah Akhigbe), Meesha Rai (Inessa Tan), Ellis Grouch (Ryan Yeates) and step-sister Lila Gray (Izellah Connelly) – as they explore the mysteries of the island on which they live, fuelled by Taylor’s fascination with her Uncle Charlie’s disappearance, and determination to find out what happened to him.

Every episode sees the gang tackle a new mystery, spurred on by Taylor’s irrepressible desire to uncover the inexplicable side of the Island and the true whereabouts of Uncle Charlie.

A tight and sometimes chaotic team of contrasting personalities, the gang are all drawn into Taylor’s quests, each member bringing something unique to the mix, be it Nori’s witty and rational practicality, Meesha’s gutsy, never-say-die attitude, Ellis’ book smarts and technical know-how, or sassy Lila’s loyal and sisterly devotion to Taylor.

Rock Island Mysteries was previously announced as Taylor’s Island and is a Fremantle Media production for Paramount Australia and Nickelodeon International, with major production funding from Screen Australia and support from Screen Queensland.

10 actually commission some pretty solid Teen / Young Adult series but never promote them well. All that investment in local Aussie drama and almost zero promotion and an announcement 6 days out from premiering, why bother? They did the same shit with Dive Club.

No mention on the 10 Shake (or main channel) social media accounts to promote it, yet they’ll schedule repetitive posts promoting the same shit shows in repeat that barely rate.

Honestly, no direction or strategy as usual.

They have done this forever

They launch shows they’ve spent a lot of money on into bad 6pm times lots with 4 days of promos

It’s the promo people that do this. They have no one with executive level strategy skills at 10 in promos and marketing

They really are quite hopeless at promoting local content. It happens over and over again.

Which is a shame because these shows actually look quite decent and dare I say it, could be main channel material in primetime. Alas the useless promo department at 10 spend more time promoting Masterchef 1000x than even bothering with anything on 10 Shake, let alone good local content.

When it comes to children’s TV 10 are really phoning it in like the other networks.

According to Variety, 10 Shake is Paramount’s free to air channel.

I mean, it’s not technically wrong is it? Paramount own Network 10, which in turn operates 10 Shake.

I guess it looks weird because Paramount is the company name now. It sounds like a Network 10 channel is described as the free-to-air channel of a studio or streaming service, when in fact Paramount encompasses all of that.

This is not what we meant when we said we wanted more news… :joy:

I suppose it’s a good way to get some local kids content on Shake, particularly with the integration with Nickelodeon which will probably last longer than if this was a sole venture by 10.

I wouldn’t mind seeing more collaboration between 10 and Nick on local kids shows.

Sandra’s gonna be pissed when she finds some kid has scribbled all over her desk and stuck chewing gum under it.
