Desk extensions have been put in place on The AM show desk to help space out the hosts during Covid-19 pandemic. Also Mark has been moved to the other side of the desk, Amanda has moved over also and extra microphones have been removed

Looks a little like they’ve pulled out the keyboard tray from the computer desk haha. Does look tidier though without others mics in the one person shots.

The Project is so much better with Jeremy Corbett at the helm. I would keep him in that seat,
not bother with 4th hosts, instead rotate the comedians with 7 Days regulars (Josh, Paul Ego, Ben Hurley, Dai Henwood, Jeremy Elwood, Michele A’Court, Justine Smith) - a lot of them are guest hosts often anyway.

I don’t know about recently but it wasn’t great…

They enjoyed ratings spikes in April and June, and closed out October with an average audience of 152,700

Even during their biggest month in April, with an average audience of 179,200, Seven Sharp swamped those numbers with an average audience of 495,700 for the same time period.

From a different article… in 25-54 “that is something like 113,000 [Seven Sharp] to 77,000 people watching [Project]”

Doesn’t look that great. But its been for a few years now, surely there would be some growth?

The problem being ratings numbers are not publicly accessible in NZ. So no one really knows.

Do we know what the show is about? Good competition for Q+A which is returning to Monday nights at the exact same time slot!

Surprised it’s 4 nights a week, and that Three have been able to commission and produce this during the pandemic. Is it part of the news programming or more entertainment?

Edit:

From the Newshub article:

Broadcaster Paul Henry is returning to New Zealand TV screens with a brand new show that starts next week.

Rebuilding Paradise with Paul Henry premieres Monday, April 20 at 9.30pm on Three and its 30-minute episodes will be broadcast four nights a week for four weeks.

The series is described by MediaWorks, which owns Newshub, as a positive yet hard-hitting show, aimed at finding the truth about where we are as a nation as we come out of lockdown and what possibilities lie ahead for us in the future.

About time!

I’m gonna guess that Q+A will end up wishing they stayed in the Sunday morning slot.

While I am appreciative of local content and employing people at this time, they’ve just told their staff to take a 15pc paycut…and now they’ve rehired Paul?

Especially since they are recipients of the wage subsidy scheme at the moment are they not.

There was mention of him discussing a return to Mediaworks last year for a show so maybe they signed him then. He could have been working on a similar concept show to showcase his vision for the country. Depending on the viewpoints of the show maybe they have outside ‘investment’.

Update: Pauls idea apparently https://www.stuff.co.nz/entertainment/tv-radio/121004725/television-presenter-paul-henry-to-host-new-current-affairs-show

“It’s a fraction of what I would normally get out of bed for. I’m sorry - a fraction minus 15 percent.”

That Ryan Bridge comes across as an absolute tool. Too much time pretending to be Duncan Garner and sitting across Mark Richardson.
