In an ideal world yes but I highly doubt a new owner would want to invest in news on a low rating commercial channel. They’d probably just sign another deal for Newshub to produce their news.

When Sky gets tired of kicking the ball around, Prime is far more likely to be shut down rather than sold off. There’s bugger-all assets, no infrastructure and little in terms of programming deals that would make it worthwhile to buy.

Interesting that Janika hosted Newshub Late tonight instead of filling in for Eric. Sacha used to pretty reliably host Late Mon-Tue but hasn’t been doing this shift so much recently.

It is now inevitable that channel does not make sense anymore, years ago what I wished Prime TV have more assets rather than ridiculous stuff that some programmes aired on this channel could have aired on TVNZ 1, and buying CBS deal makes stuff unpopular here than it did on TV3 (now Three) years before that.

Prime News tonight having some issues
First story airs and when it ends it crashes into a break. Plays the start of Shipping wars for 2 minutes and then returns to bulletin plays a few more stories and then crashes back into Shipping Wars and displays the following message. Now back on air again.

They usually tilt the camera to the right so the Newshub logo isn’t shown or have a reporter stand on the roof to give the illusion it’s all from Prime. It would be nice if reporters out in the field made an effort to cover up the Newshub logo in their reports.

Just rebrand the bulletin ‘Newshub on Prime’ or something like that. Sort of thought that sort of flexibility was part of the idea behind not tying the news brand name to the channel.
