Friday (26.03.2021): Michael is live from Cairns in Queensland this morning speaking to locals and business owners ahead of Jobkeeper ending on Sunday. Michael Rennie was on sport again today.

my god the consistency in this show is non existent. I know it’s public service but like try to keep people doing there job for more than a few days at a time.

They started in about October last year giving the hosts random long weekends as opposed to taking a chunk of annual leave at once. I don’t mind the idea but it does feel like the whole team is rarely rostered on together. The whole sports situation is messy too- losing both Paul Kennedy and Georgie Tunny together hasn’t been ideal.

Disney probably provided the infrastructure for the press opportunity. Interviews from the same junket were published with a more rudimentary 3-box in the same format (stars up top, media talent bottom) with single shots of the stars featured with blanking huge Winter Soldier logos aside of them. This one airing more than a week after the first wave of clips, Disney or the ABC made a fancier 3-box graphic to Disney spec.

They just referred to it as a “Special Edition of Weekend Breakfast”… on a Monday. Why are they doing this- different format, different presentation, later start time and different people. Not the best way to try and build an audience for the weekday show. Kath is great though.

It’s a public holiday.
My guess is that having the Weekend Team on and doing it from Sydney means that they don’t need a Floor Manager, a Studio Camera Operator on set and a full Control Room like they do with the Weekday Breakfast in Melbourne. And also it’s a Public Holiday which means the rates are higher. But if that’s the case then they should’ve had the Weekend Team on Good Friday as well as Today.
