Nate did go on leave for a few weeks, but I think we won’t see any fill in presenters unless all 3 mains are absent

I didn’t realise ABC News Breakfast came from the Insiders set at one point.

It should have used this set all the time. It looks quite nice.

It was for a special Sunday broadcast they did… can’t remember the exact reason but probably a disaster or something?

and yes that was much nicer than their set at the time.

Probably Black Saturday bushfires back in early 2009.

It was a weird time at Southbank. The 7pm had started using a key. News Breakfast using an ugly set while the Insiders set was permanently set up but used for 90 minutes one day a week. A mishmash of ugly sets for ABC Asia Pacific. Nothing versatile or multi-use.

Yes, I think this was a special broadcast for the Black Saturday Fires in 2009. This was broadcast on the Sunday morning.

Yes, they were operating out of very confined space. No room for a 7PM news set. They eventually upgraded to a more multipurpose set for most programmes but in 2016 they moved to the new (bigger) studio that they’re in now.
