How hard is it for the entire team (James, Bridget, Emma, Catherine and Nate) to do a full week of five days, and do it for more than a week, a month or a year?
I’d love to be the host of News Breakfast if I could get that much leave allowance approved at random and at my pleasure.

Has it ever happened?
My understanding is Bridget is technically part-time.

Christmas decorations seem to improve every year.
Bridget? The main presenter? Is part time? That’s just crazy.
yeah that’s right. yeah, it is…

Emma has been missing for at least the last three weeks, must be having a long break.
Back next week as backup newsreader, according to the Age. She was primary host over the Christmas break last year, so assume she’ll do the same again.
I will say, the Catherine/Stephanie pairing has much better chemistry than James/Catherine, or James/Bridget.

Monday (08.12.2025): Emma Rebellato is back after four weeks and is co-hosting with Bridget. There is no separate newsreader.
Charles Brice on sport this week.
And Charles Brice will return to Adelaide after this week.

I don’t see the fuss to be honest. It’s not like the people who fill in aren’t known to viewers. It’s not uncommon for breakfast/morning shows to have a roster of presenters. Kochie did 4 days on Sunrise for a time. It’s routine in the UK for Good Morning Britain, BBC News Breakfast, and The Morning to have different presenters on different days.

I think there’s a difference, these shows have fairly standard rosters of good presenters. News Breakfast is a grab bag every morning.

This conversation this morning about what teens should do now that the social media ban has kicked in has been so incredibly patronising and condescending.
We’re talking about 13, 14 and 15 year olds, not 5 year olds. Suggestions like go out and climb a tree aren’t really helpful or constructive. I think those hoping for a return to the ‘good old days’ when kids played outside all the time are in for a rude shock.

She’s the only one who works a full week. Good that she had a break.

Well, that’s partly the point. Kids have lost the ability and skills.
It has already been shown that schools that have banned mobile phone use during the day at school have seen a return to students playing nore sport again and engaging with each other. There are a lot of social skills lost when kids and teens have their heads buried in a phone all day.
Thuraday (11.12.2025): Emma Rebellato is co-hosting with James this morning.Bridget working Friday, her day off, instead.
Charles Brice still on sport. There is no separate newsreader.
