Newcastle Radio

Interesting, that doesn’t happen often around here. I’ll check when I go out shortly.

Just got back… all stations on 87.6, 87.8 and 88.0 were all operating as normal around inner Newcastle (Lambton - Broadmeadow - Hamilton).

And that pesky pirate on 89.3 is still there!

88.0 was on air yesterday afternoon but the others were silent. Must have been fixed.

For folks who are after streaming 2HD/New FM online, you can they just don’t advertise it, but they are hosted on 2SM shoutcast server:

New FM

They’re probably Bill’s main STL’s to his transmitter sites and I’m not joking.

SRN have fixed up their http://2smsupernetwork.com website lately. Actually looks quite good now.

There are STLs on the roof at the Sandgate (Newcastle) studios, so maybe not the main one, But they are possibly a back up.

Nah they use Tielines on Telstra DVN to get to sites

Nah was simply a trail at one stage, they aren’t use for broadcast

They did stream once but APRA wanted double the fees to have both FM/AM and Online stream, so they removed the stream off the website, but they still exist on the Shoutcast Server

Can anyone confirm the current NewFM line-up? Is their producer still co-hosting part, or now the entire Novo’s breakfast show? And is their local drive show still commencing at 2pm? Or has Joel returned to starting at 3pm?

… It’s all a bit in limbo without a more permanent Novo’s co-host. Unless, this is to remain …

They have a digital STL to Sugarloaf?

When I was working for them a few years ago they where using a Analog 850mhz STL as they were using the 67khz and 92khz subcarriers for remote control to and from the site… I had the joy of helping set that up
May have changed since I left but do also use a Tieline as a backup path, and at some sites IP is the main

Move FM 107.9 appear to have something similar, but oddly on 68kHz with data rather than the regular 67kHz ACS subcarrier channel. I’ve never seen usage on this MPX frequency by any broadcaster before.

Looks like some line-up changes at NewFM:

  • I’d assume Steven Jones has permanently joined Mark Krivo on The Novo’s
  • With former Nights announcer Scott Frappell taking on Workdays
  • And it looks like they’ve introduced a new show, “NewFM’s Homegrown with Rox” on Friday & Sunday nights - promoting local artists.

All that needs doing is to axe the “80’s to Now” and skew towards men 25-54.

I’m guessing you’re referring to Triple M Newcastle having their own “Homegrown”?

That’s a network programme, not just Newcastle.
