Season 16 of My Kitchen Rules Australia premieres on TVNZ 2 on Monday, October 19 at 7.30pm. Nine teams compete in this season (six in the first instant restaurant round, another three teams as gatecrashers in the second round). The prizemoney has been reduced from A$250,000 to A$100,000.
According to Screenscribe, TVNZ 2 will create an Aussie tripleheader on Monday-Thursday nights from October 27, when the new seasons of Love Island Australia and Big Brother Australia join the line-up. Both Love Island and BB have new filming locations this year - Love Island in the same villa in Fiji where the US version is shot, and BB in the Screen Queensland studios in Brisbane.
TVNZ’s line-up will look like this:
Monday-Wednesday: My Kitchen Rules, Love Island, BB
Thursday: First Dates Australia, Love Island, BB
Big Brother will screen on Monday to Saturday nights with each episode shown one day after Australia.
The final instant restaurant of MKR’s gatecrasher round is scheduled for November 2 in Australia and November 11 in NZ. As MKR airs twice per week in Australia and three times per week in NZ, at some point in November NZ will catch up in Australia.
Over on Three, season 3 of Guy Montgomery’s Guy-Mont Spelling Bee Australia premieres on Thursday, October 29 at 7.30pm. This year, Sam Campbell has replaced Aaron Chen as Guy’s sidekick.
