Saw this morning on Trackside 1 that they are potentially broadcasting from the former Newshub studios off Flower Street for their racing coverage (and notice the desk as well, so similar).

I could be wrong but I’m just taking a massive bet.

I think it’s same desk, but different studio. May be wrong though.

Definitely same desk and possibly a different studio. The lighting around the videowall looks much different.

CRC Motorsport appeared to have come from the “old” studio… unless they greenscreened it?

Yep, no LED strips &c. Looking hard at the “ex newshub” desk in the image above, I’d swear it’s AR, the shading around the bend on the left doesn’t look natural, and the person sitting at it appears way small, compared with Newshub. Then again, I’m not really sure… purple desk has underlighting at the bottom though.

Just moments ago, CRC Motorsport, still using the newshub set - presumably the intro was recorded this week.

Does the move include playout? Or is that moving to or has already been moved to the US
?

Playout was moved offshore just before the Newhub closure as part of the restructure. Generic office space is probably all the WBD operation in NZ needs now.

I think that’s what they want you to do lol

Thanks for that.
Where did WBD playout move to? Who is their playout provider?

The Max hub on Sky and Neon will offer series, Hollywood blockbuster movies, and family favourites, as well as a library of programming across lifestyle, reality and documentaries.

Sky Entertainment and Neon subscribers will gain exclusive access to Max and HBO Originals in New Zealand, including the highly anticipated Dune: Prophecy, as well as new seasons of The Last of Us, The White Lotus and Euphoria.

In addition, Max on Sky and Neon will offer WBD’s classic franchises such as Friends, The Big Bang Theory and Rick and Morty, while also featuring a deep library from brands including the DC universe, Warner Bros., Discovery, TLC, Animal Planet, Cartoon Network and Harry Potter.

For Sky Entertainment customers who prefer to enjoy content via linear viewing, Sky’s SoHo channel, which has been the home of HBO’s content on Sky for many years, will be rebranded HBO, exclusively showing HBO Original content.

The new Max hub and dedicated HBO linear channel will be made available on the new Sky Box, Sky Pod and Sky Go from 30 October 2024, with the Max hub also available on Neon. Sky Entertainment and Neon customers will automatically have access to this content, which will be accessible through the Max hub, as well as other areas like the Home Page.

Trackside is usually based at NEP’s Stanley Street studios in central Auckland which is a 10 minute drive from Flower Street (the former home of Newshub through Three/Warner Bros. Discovery NZ) in Eden Terrace, depending on traffic.

Can’t be long before WBD offloads Three to sky …

@nztv Does that mean Three, Bravo, eden, Rush and HGTV would be renamed?

Sky Open, a free-to-air channel from Sky, already exists and it is intended that WBD’s own free-to-air channels would become part of the revamped Sky Open as a family (e.g. Sky Open 1-6), similar to Sky Sport (e.g. Sky Sport Select and Sky Sport 1-9).

After missing out with Max, Three’s ratings hits a massive low.

New show “On the Ladder” hosted by Brodie Kane averaged 6,400 in the 25-54 target which premiered Sunday night. That’s only 2% of the audience in New Zealand.

Warner Bros. Discovery owns both Three and Max, but they seem to have ‘missed out’ on a streaming partnership that could leverage both? I would have expected the Sky/Max deal to work similarly to the old Newshub arrangement with Prime/Sky Open, where they could launch Max on Sky while still keeping the option to fold Three Now into Max later.

More money in a deal with Sky seemingly.
