Matt Nable (actor and Fox League commentator) stars in the drama.
Acorn holds secondary rights for Australia, so it could mean an Australian network will premiere The Sounds.

Couldn’t believe they’d sold the rights to the RWC to a streamer in NZ. Optus was a fiasco broadcasting the FIFA World Cup in Australia last year and doesn’t sound like Spark is handling it much better. Streaming is just not equipped to deal with such events anywhere near as effectively as broadcast.

Wellington Paranormal S2 starts Wednesday 16 October at 8:30pm on TVNZ 2

This will end well:

In order for the bid to go head, Sky requires shareholder approval due to rights fee being more than half of the company’s value, a stipulation passed by the New Zealand government as part of the 1993 Companies Act. This will be sought at the company’s annual meeting, set for 17th October.

Are they trying to go the way of Foxtel?

I imagine losing the SANZAR rugby rights would sound the death knell for Sky - they downplayed Spark getting the RWC rights, but surely behind the scenes there would have been be some concern about future rights deals.

What? Are Sky in a Cost-Saving Mode by Letting go of the Cricket?

Would bet Spark/TVNZ outbid them.

In regards to the announcement, that’s a massive acquisition for Spark. Rugby and cricket are probably Sky’s 2 main sports so to lose home rights for one of them is a significant blow for them

Sky shares have dropped 20% today on the ASX and the NZX on the back of the cricket news

NZ Herald are reporting sky will retain the rugby

8:30 tonight on Prime, Making NZ looks at broadcasting…

Hear the incredible stories of how our nation was built from the ground up. This episode looks at broadcasting in NZ from its beginning in radio through to the digital future.”

Though be warned, Making NZ tends to gloss over a lot to fit the 40min running time, so anticipate inaccuracies, omissions and resist the urge to throw the remote at the tele.

NZ Rugby owning a small share in Sky is interesting.

It’s almost a form of security
