New Zealand TV

Yeah. Edited post to include these.

And Lord of the Rings on TV2. Nothing more Kiwi than sports and Peter Jackson on the same night.

Must be a busy night for Spark Sport to control both of their live events of the rugby and cricket at the same time for the FTA broadcasters TVNZ and Three.

Spark Sport has the full rights. Three are carrying Black Ferns pool games and two quarter finals (delayed), plus the semis and final live.

Pretty similar to previous RWC agreements that would’ve happened with Sky in the past.

The fact that the Women’s RWC match coverage is a world feed and Spark Sport wraps their pre/post-game & HT studio segments around that would have helped them.

Season 4 of Lego Masters Australia premieres on Three tomorrow (Monday) at 7.30pm, continuing on Tuesdays. It was the first season to be filmed in Fox Studios in Sydney, after three seasons in Melbourne, due to the COVID state border restrictions at the time of filming (late 2021).
The season introduced the Titanium Brick of Triumph, which the winning team could use to keep them safe from a future Elimination Challenge.

Season 6 of Australian Ninja Warrior premieres on THREE on Sunday (October 16) at 7pm, with new hosts tennis legend Jim Courier and journalist Leila McKinnon.

Huge win for Sky Sport, major loss for Spark Sport.

Can’t help but wonder how long Spark sport will keep going for. Maybe they’ll sell it to Sky, like Lightbox

Is’nt Spark sport kind of already tied up with Sky anyway? similar to Kayo over here?

No. They’re competitors. More akin to Optus.

It’s a good question - they have the cricket rights for another 3 years after this year but they seem to have cost cut from the opening season with fewer cameras. I don’t know that they’d be getting return on it. Presumably the international deals they could onsell rather easily but they’ve just signed a couple of long term ones.

Delete if not allowed, but have nabbed this ratings chart off The Spinoff website to give us a rare insight into NZ TV ratings in 2023.

I will happily cringe on behalf of the nation that a repeat of The Chase Bloopers commanded an audience of 404,500 viewers. Long live the oldies who prop up TVNZ1.

The Chase is popular across all age groups - hence why they flog it in primetime too!

No surprise to see My Life is Murder rating well - the only locally made drama in the top 20.

what’s the article on the spinoff this from? just curious.

The documentary that aired on One on Tuesday night, ‘No Maori Allowed’, was excellent.

The Australian version of Would I Lie to You? starts tonight on TVNZ2 at 9pm, right after The Voice Australia. Filmed in Melbourne, the first season was hosted by Chrissie Swan with Chris Taylor and Frank Woodley as team captains.
Here is the line-up for the first episode.

The show was recently renewed for a second season by Network 10 at its 2023 upfronts, with Charlie Pickering replacing Chris Taylor as team captain. Chrissie Swan returns as host and Frank Woodley returns as team captain.

Wonder if we’ll get The Cheap Seats here anytime soon
