First time Magic Talk and Magic Music have been broken out I believe and it’s not pretty reading for Magic Talk. They’re virtually non-existant versus ZB.

Crikey without the music station that is dire reading!

What Magic Talk doesn’t rate?? Preposterous! Surely the low ratings were after Sean Plunket departed and his audience revolted in protest

What’s worse is that The Hits had its WORST-ever survey in history - including Classic Hits days! Their strategy clearly isn’t translating to listeners.

Do you have any of the pre-2000 surveys? I’ve only been able to find a handful in my research.

so am picking the idea of having Jono and ben do the brekky show didnt work then

Flava returning to Whangarei on 106.0FM. Kicking it off with first 10,000 songs non-stop.

Move over More Fm Breakfast club… now 4 hosts on the Rock Morning rumble with the addition of newsreader Mel. Wonder who is not getting their contract renewed at the end of the year…

No doubt a subtle promotion to address some recent press the station has earned itself. Although they have had a 4 person team before and when Leah Panapa was a member of the show.

Magic Talk might struggle but Magic Music seems to do alright.

Especially in Southland where the combined Music/Talk is miles ahead. What’s going on there?

They were onto a winner quite early on in some markets with Magic (Music). I think Hawkes Bay and Southland were quick to tune in and have stayed that way. Pretty good numbers in Auckland as well now that its on FM.

I would argue they have picked up where Coast dropped off. Coast previously used to do well in Southland when it skewed much older with the playlist and I believe in Auckland it did well but they have fallen in those markets. They are of course now targeting the Breeze audience rather than the boomers and as the results show, Mediaworks now has both of those audiences.

i would imagine magic music has catered for listeners who used to
listen to coast, coast used to be the boomer.older listener but magic
seems to have filled that market
the breeze always seems to do well here in christchurch-having a local breakfast show
guess helps

Looking at their website I see 5 transmitters/licences/sites (purchased from TAB) that won’t be operational in time for the commencement of broadcasting throughout NZ.

Perhaps there’s some technical issues with the transmitters or links that they haven’t been able to resolve in time?

sad to hear the news of passing of philip sherry i knew of him of course as being on tv
but he started on radio many years ago
i even recall him doing the news on the paul
holmes show on zb

Sad to read that ZB sports presenter Martin Devlin, who has been piled on by NZ Herald and Stuff reporters in recent, tried to take his own life last night.

His own employer, NZME, has been trying to silence his family for defending him. What an utter disgrace.

Yeah terrible news. Hope it’s a wake up call Herald, Stuff etc needs to stop publishing vendettas against people.
