I thought RNZ was moving forward with their Youth Radio Network on 102FM after the whole Concert FM debacle but this article says otherwise. If NZME can launch Kick then RNZ surely can do something as well.

Yes completely canned for the time being. Covid didnāt help either from memory. I believe they got to the point of even advertising a couple of jobs.

Iām sooo very disappointed in RNZ I thought there charter was to cater to all age groups I was looking forward to RNZ starting a music station instead of there talk, features station & concert
Why can NZME start an alt station Kick which is sounding great but RNZ canāt ???

Because theyāre paying the interns around 400 a week.

Run by interns who are probably working for next to nothing and juggling other full time duties for NZMEās terrestrial stations on top of this most likely. Still a good opportunity though.

Originally it was meant to be a replacement for Mike Peru on the night show but then changed his mind so Alex put his hand up to be replaced.
To be fair (and i listen to Fletch, Vaughn and Megan each morning), the last ratings survey had ZM with 312,000 listeners and The Edge 306,400 listeners at breakfast. So Dom can still command an audience.

I remember a Dan the night guy on the edge when I was growing up. They used to play a game where you had to guess something in a certain area and it was something beginning with D in Dunedin in the octagon, I rang for thru made a guess wasnāt correct but only time Iāve managed to get thru to radio or tv lol
Same but I do understand there is alot of upheaval happening internally and externally and now that other posters have mentioned the working conditions of the interns at NZME, really explains alot. Fingers crossed RNZ launches before itās too little too late.

Itās currently radio ratings survey break in Australia (it finishes on April 19), so PJ is taking the opportunity to fly back home to visit her fiance and family.
Would not surprise me if she finishes off her stint in NZ.

I really wish they would add more variety though. Fine to drop the 80ās music but at least expand your playlist more to cover the remaining decades. So much potential with the music, but the same safe stuff dominates.
