Does this mean all the radio stations will be under the same roof for once?
Not sure exactly how the flower Street money was split up amongst TV vs radio but my understanding is some went to both
Yes, Fountain Court (The Edge, maifm, the sound, and the rock) 239 Ponsonby Road (MoreFM, magic music and the breeze) Ponsonby Road (George FM) Flower Street (Magic Talk) will all be in the new building.
Very impressive building. Looking forward to maybe working there.
Very impressive looking indeed, the staff wonât know themselves when they start working there.
Will be an end of an era when they leave Fountain Court.
looks like the building here in chch for mediaworks in addington
Sky said no, perhaps?
Hey guys - especially to @Reece and @theGradyConnell - I just went to Wikipedia and I did not realise that Magic Music would take over broadcasting on most of TAB Trackside Radioâs frequencies, including Northland, Waikato, Whakatane, Gisborne and Central Otago (Wanaka and Alexandra).
Just recently, the TAB had announced that Trackside Radioâs AM and FM frequencies are being suspended until further notice. The decision to suspend the radio broadcast reflects the reality of no New Zealand racing being available due to the Covid-19 outbreak and is aligned with efforts to reduce non-critical costs throughout the racing industry.
A lifting of suspension of the Trackside Radio service on its frequencies will be reviewed by the TAB once the resumption of New Zealand racing is confirmed. However, Trackside Radio is still streaming live on tab.co.nz and on rova.
With Magic taking over from Trackside Radio (as listed in Wikipedia), Iâm a bit confused by the decision.
You need to remember its wikipedia, so not exactly guaranteed to be correct unless its confirmed by official sources or it actually happens.
I could go in their right now and and write that Magic will be taking over all The Edge frequencies despite not being true.
@Reece Thanks for the heads up. I went to Magicâs Wikipedia page and it seems that the frequencies for Magic Music (or âMagicâ as itâs announced on air) have been updated, although (from my point of view) these are yet to be confirmed by MediaWorks Radio any time soon.
This is due to the Covid-19 outbreak and as a result of this, the radio simulcast of TAB Trackside TV on the AM and FM frequencies is being suspended until further notice.
Anyone else getting deja vu in this thread?
More FM Drive no longer has Jason Gunn part of the show online. No mention of Sam Smith either.
But seems Jase is not done with radio completely. Heâs filling in on the Breakfast Club this week.
Just tuned into the Trackside Radio AM frequency here in Tauranga on 873kHz and it appears it is completely off-air⌠So it looks like here in Tauranga at least they have not changed the program, they have turned off the transmitter⌠guess thatâs one way to save money hehe
so with job losses on the horizon at nzme
how will this impact the radio side of the business
C105.7 looks to become Coast later this year.
whats on the frequency now
Jono and Ben start on The Hits Breakfast tomorrow. Toni & Sam have a couple of weeks leave to use up before starting on Coast Breakfast with Jason Reeves May 4
They should have kept Laura on breakfast, The Hits being a strongly female skewed station, they will need a female voice in the morning.
I understand they would have paid a bit for the boys so want them to have the widest possible audience. But I donât think this will go well
I believe the plan is to put in a female voice of some sort in there at some point. I suspect those plans have probably been derailed by Covid. I do wonder if they might try have a crack at getting Sharyn Casey over perhaps?
I did watch a couple minutes of their midday livestreams theyâve been doing this week and theyâve got a female panel operator whose been on the mic.
I doubt theyâll get Sharyn. I remember them saying The Edge drive ratings had dropped while their show was on, and I doubt Sharyn would leave mediaworks while her husband works there
i dont listen to the Hits or Jono and ben but i think they may struggle i would have thought keeping them on the orig plan of doing radio hauraki may have suited them and their style
