Sharyn Casey leaving The Edge…
Thank gawd, it won’t be the last we see of Auntie Shaz, as she’ll be staying part of the rova whānau working on some “super fun projects” in 2025. Plus, of course, you can catch her as the host of the ‘Better Me (Hopefully)’ podcast.
Stay tuned to hear more about what’s next for Sharyn and how The Edge Afternoons with Steph and Sean will look next year!
Meg to Afternoons
Steph (or someone else) to Breakfast
perhaps?
Also, Ash London is moving to Nz… Australia radio talent worked for ZM
Feel a bit sorry for Sharyn - quality broadcaster in my eyes but had a revolving door of co-hosts in the last few years, none who were quite right for her. Always felt slightly mismatched.
She’s been pretty stable in that afternoon slot though - nearly 11 years is far from a bad inning.
By looking at the last paragraph, looks like it’ll only be hosted by Steph and Sean next year. To be honest two hosts are enough for an afternoon show and there’s no way they would hire a third person during MW’s job cuts
Would there need to be a stay tuned to see how it looks if it were to simply continue on as the duo? However, already calling it “The Edge Afternoons with Steph and Sean” would make it seem like it is just a continuation.
Post Fletch and Vaughan. That afternoon show did sound its best in the early years when Sharyn hosted with Clint and Guy, as well as Jono and Ben. Its current iteration probably the worst
18 years is a long time to be hosting a show…it seems as though she may have outgrown the station and maybe time to move on and pass the torch on well done sharyn
Interesting how Flava only used to be Auckland/Hawkes Bay, then expanded to a few other centres, and now it’s pulling back its coverage. I don’t know if it would have rated terribly well in Dunedin - maybe not much better in Christchurch either.
ZB on AM in places like Gisborne and Wellington makes sense, the geography of both places doesn’t lend itself very well to FM - but AM goes everywhere.
Maybe she’ll go to More FM (like Jay Jay did)?
She wanted to focus more time on family, I hear. But she’ll remain with Mediaworks after she leaves the station.
Their target demo probably don’t tune into the radio over the air. I think they might have an app for that.
I think she is going to be used in a coaching/mentoring role at mw
Speaking of more fm its now announced paul ego from the breakfast club is leaving
feels like he only just started.
Makes sense with Simon coming back in 2025 - albeit I don’t think he’s fulltime.
So much for “Simon’s coming back but don’t worry no one’s leaving”
The Mediaworks annual Christmas clear-out!
Sports Nation now on rova - looks like in partership with rova as front and center along with mediaworks brands
Seems to have replaced the RNZ feed…
