I would hazard a guess and say if this new format doesn’t work soon enough then they will axe it altogether, much like Polly Gillespie’s podcast.
Wha? When/where/why did that go? I remember seeing ads for it not that long ago. I would have thought she was a big talent they would be quite reluctant to let go of.
Then again I did see she had done a few shifts on The Breeze as well, so…
Nope, MW told her they couldn’t afford to pay for her podcast unless she went out and found a sponsor to keep it going. Now she’s studying to be a counsellor
Oh that’s a shame, she is quite talented too. Reason I asked is I checked her Instagram but couldn’t see any mention of her podcast ending - in fact she still links to it in the description, but it just goes to the Rova homepage.
Me too.
I’m doubtful but hoping MW go all in on a digital news/talk format starting with Garner’s upcoming breakfast news thing…
As much there is to dislike about Sean Plunket and The Platform , good on them for finding their niche in the market. It’s probably a format MW would like to replicate if they can find the $$.
@medianz@nztv A year has passed since Today FM, via MediaWorks, went off the airwaves and closed its doors for good.
Many talk radio fans feel a significant void in their listening experience due to the lack of an alternative to Newstalk ZB, but I can’t help but wonder what if my ideal talk radio brand, known as TalkNZ, became a reality? This possible new station would offer a fresh perspective and bring a unique voice to the airwaves.
Here’s a mock schedule:
5-6am: Rachel Smalley
6-9am: Corin Dann
9am-12pm: Mark Sainsbury (followed by a break for lunchtime news from 12-1pm)
