Surprising that Newstalk ZB have Mikey Beban (talkback listener > today fm late host) covering Jim Snedden on Overnight Talk rather than just giving Miles Davis his old gig back. Poor old Miles has to make do with filling on The Platform once in a while.
I mean they jumped at giving Piney another job after he left for that very short stint at SENZ.
So, let me get this straight - from reading that article, it appears he basically worked in a call centre for a taxi company for 20 years, yet (somehow) that gives him a whole heap of life experience to host a talkback show? He wouldn’t have been on-air on Today for barely six months before it closed down, yet he then gets a plum job afterwards on ZB???
Hell, I’ve got far more radio experience than him (and some call centre experience too, while we’re at it), and even I wouldn’t say I could do a talkback show! I agree with you @nztv - they should have given the role to someone with a decent amount of experience (ie, Miles Davis), not a call-centre operator who was on-air for not even six months.
Having said that I’ve never listened to the guy - is he actually any good?
So I guess that’s on again… I haven’t listened to The Rock for years, has the 2000 countdown evolved much in the last 15 years, do the usual customers end up at the pointy end?
