Another teaser: < CXXXXXXXX >
The C gets added in the mix.

Will it have frequency attached or a rova only station

I can confirm the audio loop is playing on 94.0 Southland (former Today FM station), so I imagine it’ll make up those frequencies not already shuffled to other stations.

Yeah, they’ve encoded 12:00 08.05.2023 into the audio loop now which is presumably the start date and time. They’ll have the remaining Today FM frequencies considering this loop broadcasts on all of them as far as I know.

If the station is targeting very late GenX → Millennials it probably wouldn’t make too much sense to play just the “throwback playlist” and ads with no announcers as streaming services exist in abundance nowadays. I’ll hazard a guess and say that they’ll probably follow the MW formula: big breakfast & drive shows and the top 20 songs in their playlist on repeat. But I guess we will find out Monday.

Wonder if it will replace the second More FM on 100.6 in Dunedin?

Yeah, there’s been comments on another forum that it’ll be 100.6 in Dunedin.

I wonder if Christchurch, New Plymouth & Whakatane will get LPFM (low power FM) relays of this new network to “work around” the fact Mediaworks doesnt have a spare full power frequency in those locations for Channel X

So your telling me, the new station begins midnight on Monday?

Either that or midday. They probably used 24hr time as there is no AM/PM encoded, so probably midday.

This is what they’ve encoded:

No plans.

More FM’s High School Hits continue to be broadcast to Dunedin on 100.6FM. This is in addition to its main frequency (97.4FM).

No plans.

There’s an intermittent advisory that’s running there saying that the station is soon changing so I suspect ChannelX (likely) or Mai is going there.
“This station on 100.6 will shortly be changing. If you like Jay-Jay and Flynny and the breakfast club with Lana, Adam and Paul Ego, you can still hear them over on 97.4 FM in the future. If you love our More FM’s High School Hits, check out our station on Rova.”

I wonder if Mediaworks will end up going for the cricket rights again? Be similar to a Gold / Gold Sport mix

It wouldn’t be in the interests of MW to go for the rights again, and I think NZC would prefer ZB/SENZ.

They don’t really have the sports broadcasters to support it given those made redundant etc. I wouldn’t entirely rule it though. Would say SENZ front runners. They’ll throw a lot of money at it. Can’t really afford not to get it.

If they do have an announcer or 2 Graeme Hill and …or Mikey Havoc would be good
