Are you speculating here or has there been an announcement? It is a reasonable assumption that George will move from LPFM 106.7 but why go back to 104.5, causing confusion, rather than move straight to 98.9? While the licensed power is greater for 98.9, the audio quality is worse.
No.
It doesnt really bother me either way. Today FM was never broadcasted in my area (Taranaki). Probably the only part of the country that never got it. I feel sad for those who worked there, given that media is very, very hard to get into, and a lot will struggle to be re-employed in that sector.
Would be nice to have George FM expand. It would be my second favourite station after Magic, but as I said, not a chance going into Taranaki.
And you all heard (or maybe read) it here. Tova on RNZ.
What to do with the existing frequency though? All their other brands are already available in Auckland.
Sending The Breeze up to Northland could be a good thing, although given Mediaworksâs current state I doubt they would have any local shows on it.
Blackcaps and REX now listed as separate stations on Rova. Imagine this is somewhat temporary until they figure out what to do with the frequencies.
I agree. Living in Australia, its one of my highest streamed stations from NZ. Im guessing for it to have a wider appeal to the masses, it would need to be âdumbedâ down closer to a Capital Dance or Fresh 92.7.
That wouldnt be in the interest of the station, or its current listeners. I wish I had a local George frequency growing up
There is also 1107AM aswellâŚ
And been that Tauranga has almost all the MW stations I will be interested to see what happens in Tauranga ![]()
Today FM ceased simulcasting on 1107AM in Tauranga and Rotorua recently, as did 1368AM in Hawkeâs Bay. However, the 1368AM signal was restarted and used by The Breeze in response to Cyclone Gabrielle.
In Whakatane and the Eastern Bay of Plenty, Today FM was broadcast on 92.1FM (from the Putauaki transmitter) as a relay of the Tauranga feed. The Edge also broadcasts to the Eastern Bay on 104.1FM and The Sound, 105.7FM, although these are only relay stations (from Tauranga).
I believe that will be the case, at least in Dunedin.
I daresay had Susie Ferguson left Morning Report a few months later, it would have been Tova replacing her, rather than Ingrid Hipkiss.
Does anyone know where the âYesterday FMâ news jingle is from? Iâve heard it being used by Q Radio in Northern Ireland, so Iâm guessing itâs a library piece of some sort.
Sad days for the staff at today fmâŚagain was not a listener but trying to compete wirh zb was a mountain too high. Do mw just say abandon news and talkback and focus on musiic but then again most of the music formats are covered
Apparently 90.1 in Westport went off the air a while ago (before Today closed down), and thereâs nothing on it now. So thereâs a frequency up for grabs.
The TuneIn live stream has been taken down. 702AM Auckland appears to have been reassigned to Humm FM, but 90.2 is still playing the mix that Today has been since Thursday.
Why not reassign 702 to Magic, like it used to be? Simulcast on AM and FM (as it was for a while)? Some of those older songs actually sound better on AM, IMO.
Humm FM simulcast on 702 was noted in a post yesterday. Its FM frequency 104.2 is licensed for much lower power from Pukekohe Hill so perhaps 702 increases Hummâs coverage.
If Mediaworks has continuing obligations to broadcast the three Blackcaps/Sri Lanka T20 matches, itâs a reasonable assumption that the continuous music programme will continue on the FM frequencies until Saturday 8-April.
Just heard a news bulletin on the former Today FM frequencies which included a story mentioning âpregnant peopleâ. And they wonder why they went bust? LOL.
Not appropriate
Its just inclusive language. Normal people dont get triggered by dumb shit like that.
