Well I doubt they want to be positive right now…
I’ll see myself out.

I just cant get into Today FM, it doesnt feel fresh when all the hosts are anything but fresh.
I did like Wilhelmina Shrimpton and her first podcast on the restraint clause, but when listening to the network as a whole, its nothing new or special or unique.
Even Polly who I grew up listening too I just cant get into her show.
Theres something missing, could be overall format issues with individual shows, or just the fact that it feels stale
Yes, they talked up a big game in regards to its position in the market but they will fall on their faces if it doesn’t prove to be the case.
I have found myself flicking over to Tova in the morning for a bit of a listen on the drive to work. I have also been listening to Polly, an easy listen for me. Between Polly and Marcus on ZB I do wonder where the more traditional/conservative audience goes to, I don’t think either show caters to them.
I think that is why I remain optimistic and am actually listening to the station to give it a go. We know we have had far worse talkback radio in very recent times…

Must be a partnership between Today FM / MW + Stuff
They never did appoint a political editor did they?
Tova O’Brien appearing on HYBPA tonight, along promoting with its new station Today FM.
I did wonder how long it would be before Tova appeared on TVNZ.
On that note, the thawing situation of radio talent appearing across different TV networks continues.
Kerre Woodham announced as a contestant on Dancing with Stars this year, she has reverted back to Woodham I see.
Alongside NZME’s Hayley and Vaughan.
Have many other Mediaworks announcers made an appearance on the show before?
i have not seen this hapen before
@Reece So, what happened to Kerre? Divorced amicably?
the sound had a new dj on yesteday afternoon
sounds like she was “satelited” in from the uk-no disrespect-she was good
but why not a local voice
on the facebook page a few differing views on what is going on at the sound
Quite a blow for SENZ not getting their hands on these.
Bit of a loss for RNZ
The press release from Newsroom:
Newsroom to cover politics for Today FM
Newsroom will provide political coverage for Today FM and other MediaWorks stations as
part of a recently signed agreement between between the two companies.
RNZ journalist Emma Hatton will join Newsroom’s political reporting team later this month to
cover parliament for Today FM and its MediaWorks radio stations as well as writing for
Newsroom.co.nz.
Newsroom’s political editor, Jo Moir, will also provide analysis and commentary on politics
for Today FM programmes. In addition, Newsroom reporters, will be part of Today FM’s
election night coverage at the next general election.
Newroom’s co-editor, Mark Jennings, says the agreement with MediaWorks is an ideal
arrangement for both parties.
“We wanted to increase the size of our team covering politics and MediaWorks was looking
for topflight political coverage for its new talk station, Today FM. We are pleased to be
working with another news partner as they look to bring more diversity and coverage to
audiences around the country."
MediaWorks Director of News & Talk Dallas Gurney says MediaWorks is delighted to partner
with Newsroom.
“We’re honoured to have both Jo and Emma join us, while continuing their roles with
Newsroom. Being able to share top talent across Newsroom and MediaWorks is huge
progress in making sure our audiences are getting the best of the best.”
Emma Hatton will join Jo Moir, Sam Sachdeva and Marc Daalder in Newsroom’s Press
Gallery/Wellington team at Parliament after four years at RNZ. During her time as a reporter
at RNZ, Hatton has spent time covering politics and business, as well as general news.
Between Rachel, Tova, Duncan & Lloyd I would have thought they were pretty sorted for election night coverage…
In terms of presenters yes - you still need reporters across the country though.
Considering NZME are the current NZ Rugby rightsholders, SENZ might not have had a chance to even try and secure the rights.
It means though they’re going to have to go hard after getting the NZ Cricket radio rights (which Mediaworks currently has) when they come up.
I think MW should choose not to bid for NZC rights again. It seems strange to have cricket on Today FM (and prev. Magic Talk). If you are going to have sports commentary/broadcasting rights you should go the full hog and aim to have more/all sports coverage. I don’t think live sports and commentary is an area MW is pursuing.
