Not too bad of a lineup but they are over selling being different or anything bold. They are trying to move away from Magic Talk but lets look at the last radio station many of them worked on…
Duncan Garner - Magic Talk
Mark Richardson - Magic Talk
Lloyd Burr - Magic Talk
Leah Panapa - Magic Talk
Duncan just sounds like a bitter old man these days, Mark Richardson is a national devout but comical enough for no one to care. Despite her journalistic pedigree, Tova will remain to many the journalist who continuously asks questions at the 1pm pressers.
Talk radio bread and butter is right wing views and appealing to over 60’s, surely ZB will continue to command the market.
Yeah. I guess it would make it easier for her in some ways to be in Auckland especially as a radio newbie, but I think she’s spent her whole life in Wellington before she went to the UK.
She currently lives in Wellington. She would need to move to Auckland as her production team will be based there and my understanding is they to have everyone (except Polly/Robett) based in Auckland.
Anyintel on the future of Graeme Hill’s show, with the move to Today FM and replacement of Nights slot with Pauline Gillespie? Hope there is space on the weekend for a Weekend Variety Wireless type show that was so successful on RadioLIVE
I wonder if he may get the Overnight slot, hope he 's not dumped altogether. I thought it was quite smart when they put him on Nights. A similar personality to Marcus Lush but whipsmart and open minded, doesn’t just cut off callers he doesn’t agree with as Lush does
Listening back to the podcast of his show on Friday, a caller asked the same question about his future, and Graeme confirmed the company did still want his involvement, so yes a weekend or overnight role (and permanent back up reliever for day shows would make sense) may be likely
RNZ has launched its youth-centric music platform today, TAHI.
In translation from Maori, Tahi = One.
“TAHI is a commercial free, editorially independent, public service media platform created for the rangatahi of Aotearoa. TAHI exists to connect rangatahi with the music, stories and culture of Aotearoa.”
I know this is just speculation but this image made for The Edge Top 100 of 2021 does not have the word ‘The’ on The Edge logo. Is this hinting to us that they are dropping the word ‘The’ and will be calling the station ‘Edge’ in the future?
MediaWorks is adding an exciting new addition to its radio lineup with the company announcing the
acquisition of 106.2 Humm FM.
The bilingual station was first launched in 2011 and broadcasts throughout Auckland offering listeners
all the latest Bollywood hits as well as current and classic Indian music.
In 2022, Humm FM will move into MediaWorks’ HQ in Hargreaves Street in Auckland. It will move to
104.2 FM in 2022 as MediaWorks has also recently acquired this frequency.
MediaWorks CEO Cam Wallace says MediaWorks is excited to welcome Humm FM to its family of
brands and diversify its offerings for both audiences and advertisers.
“Roshila and Satyan Prasad have created a fantastic brand in Humm FM and we look forward to seeing
this continue under MediaWorks.
“Humm FM attracts around 31,800 listeners every week and we see real potential around growing its
audience through our digital audio app rova and serving Indian communities across the country.
“This is a great opportunity to reach new audiences and Humm FM offers something unique with
100% of its content focused on the Indian community through their personalities and playing
Bollywood’s biggest hits. We look forward to introducing this brand to listeners right across New
Zealand in 2022.”
Humm FM Managing Director Roshila Prasad says after more than 10 years of successfully operating
Humm FM, it will be exciting to see the company evolve under such a large, reputable radio network.
“We are really proud of Humm FM. The MediaWorks acquisition has not only confirmed the value of
our brand and its reach but also the significant contribution it makes to the Indian community. I look
forward to working with MediaWorks over the next few months during the transition period and
seeing the exciting new journey of the Humm FM audience in Auckland and throughout New
Zealand.”
