Network Ten post-CBS

CBS takes control.

Two-parter:

With Old Man Bruce inevitably losing his shares in Ten, will he take a more vocal role in the NEC board with his 14.95% stake? Didnā€™t he also cut a deal with a German company that purchased additional shares that he indirectly has influence over?

Is CBS purchasing Ten Network Holdings, or is it purchasing Network Ten itself, making TNH defunct?

The annual CBS Fall Preview show will be broadcast in the US tomorrow; might give a hint of some potential multichannel content for a CBS-owned Ten.

Iain Armitage, David Boreanaz, Mark Feuerstein, Shemar Moore, Bobby Moynihan and Jeremy Piven host a look at the new series, including behind-the-scenes moments and cast interviews.

Wow, that was quick. Glad CBS are taking swift action already. Ten really need it.

soā€¦muchā€¦crime drama.
I wonder how they reacted to our non stop reality shows

However, the companies that produce shows for Ten will only get their full payment if they stay with the Network, and the Murdoch-controlled Twentieth Century Fox has been asked to renegotiate its content deal of take a one-off $3.4 million payment.

So they paid off CBA etc, what happens if the Foreign Investment Board says no ?

then they may have to go with Bruce and Lachlan. Also can the government say no to the TEN CBS tie-up

If Win buying NNSW assets required foreign investment review board what makes you think it wonā€™t for Murdoch and Gordon buying Ten?

And it will be a disaster for ten and the media in Australia.

Why are some people so keen on those two fucktards running the joint. They are horrendous at running media companies.

Just on the FIRBā€¦ so Australia letā€™s foreign Indians to buy mines and Chinese to buy farms but thereā€™s outrage from some quarters when CBS wants to buy ten and invest in local jobs. If those other two get their hands on ten there will be huge job losses

Iā€™m fairly sure Malcolm wonā€™t say no to kicking Murdoch. The tabloids, chief among them Bolt, have been ravaging Turnbull and fluffing Abbottā€™s arse of late.

Ten was owned by a Canadian media company once. Nine was at one stage owned by American venture capitalists. And Murdoch is an American and Bruce a resident of Bermuda for fuckā€™s sake. Concern-trolling by Murdoch tabloids over foreign ownership is just typical tabloid misdirection imo.

FIRB wonā€™t give a damn I reckon.

I havenā€™t seen a huge amount of negative reporting from News Ltd papers/on-line about the CBS Ten acquisition; they have had fairly well-balanced reporting. Fairfax seem to be the ones with all the FIRB commentary that Iā€™ve seen.

Are there a lot of CBS tv shows that Ten will pick up being owned by CBS? Will Ten pick up Young Sheldon? Why does Nine have Kevin Can Wait ?

Young Sheldon is distributed by Warner, and Kevin Can Wait is distributed by Sony even though CBS co-produces the program.

Could it end up on Stan then? Iā€™m going to assume not and probably on CH 9.

21st Century Fox will want to maintain its relationship with Ten, one way or the other. Fox has a 50% share in Endemol Shine Group (Apollo Global Management owns the other half) which makes shows like MasterChef Australia, Australian Survivor and Shark Tank for Ten. If CBS and Fox fail to reach a deal, these shows could be lost to Ten as well.

The payments owed to Endemol are separated from that owed to Fox. Payments to other program suppliers such as Endemol ITV and Freemantle are to paid in full under the CBS deal.

But couldnā€™t ten give those programs to another production company. (Masterchef was produced by FremantleMedia for a few years before Endermol produced it, canā€™t ten give MC back to Fremantle or to someone else).

No - the production company owns the format.
