Network Ten and Paramount+ Football coverage

No problems with that I always watch Victory on Paramount+ but the bias towards Sydney by the commentators is disgusting. Comment guys, don’t barrack.

This guy is relatively well connected in the A-League world …

If that were to occur no sport will ever sign with 10/paramount ever again. What a disaster if true.

If what Matt tweeted is correct, does it mean 10 will also not show Socceroos and Matildas matches at this end of this season?

That’s a separate deal with FA. That expires this year.

When 10 signed the rights 1 deal was with APL for A leagues and the other was a 3 year deal for FA.

Given what the Matildas achieved at last year’s World Cup (and with possible Olympic qualification on the horizon), I think 10 will do anything to renew the deal with Football Australia.

It wouldn’t be surprising if it’s true. 10/Paramount really haven’t done much to help themselves, and it isn’t a big enough drawcard to bring viewers on it’s own.

It begs the question on who would replace them if they want out. Foxtel might want back in for the right price, although they have very little football content now with Bein gone. Nine/Stan maybe to supplement the European club competition coverage? Would SBS be interested potentially with Optus? Does the APL go its own way?

I was thinking something between Optus, with a FTA component on SBS for the right price would be the most likely.

Will be very interesting to see what happens, given Paramount took a small stake in APL at the time the deal was signed.

7 exclusive with matches on 7mate and 7+ is another option

That will clash with 7mate’s AFL, AFLW and cricket commitments for almost the entire A-League season.

Not to defend 10 - because goodness knows they’re not saints here - but it doesn’t help that the A Leagues are currently a dreadful product that the network is struggling to sell.

Seems more wishful thinking than a likely scenario, I couldn’t see how 7 would be interested in this at all.

Yep - long way removed from its glory days. Needs serious help.

The jungle drums have apparently been beating for a little while on this one - not sure anyone quite believes it yet, but it doesn’t seem to be a surprise either. Seems to have picked up in light of the news out of the APL in recent weeks

I think we’ll see the APL vanish before too long leaving FA to pick up the pieces

I don’t see how this could be true. Don’t believe everything you read on Twitter

9 and Stan is the only option. Matches can be on 9Gem/9Go during the season and on Stan Sport.

No it’s not.

Could we see Aleague back on Fox sports?

Of course, but at the same time don’t dismiss everything you read because you’re a fan of Ten’s sports coverage.

The current deal is doing nothing for either party.
