Didn’t expect Niav Owens

I am hoping more expert commentators will be announced down the track.

I didn’t expect it either that Niav Owens will feature on 10 Football.

They’ve already got 3 or 4 of each male and female plus Simon and the host that’s a team of around 10 for two games a week plus the odd international. How many more people do you want?

With A-League and W-League each week there could be up to 11 games each weekend. Yes, they need more

I think the Paramount+ only games are produced by the clubs.

Just in general. They could have one set for national teams and one for the domestic competitions.

So for example, you will only see select for the national teams and have different people for the domestic comps.

They’re not producing the coverage for those games. It’s being produced by the APL.

Too expensive. Not necessarily. Rather a quality set and more money spent on production values than more talking heads when they have more than enough.

Paramount+ also has the rights for NZ too so could we see some New Zealand talent too?

I don’t think that’s true, is it?

I don’t think Ten are spending on production for their domestic competitions. Only APL is from what I have understood.

NZ rights have not been finalised and P+ hasn’t launched in NZ -and doesn’t appear in a hurry to.

10Bold just had a show called “Matildas: Countdown to India 2022” from 10.35 - 11.04pm. No promotion of this show at all. I only came along this show while flicking through the channels, and I only watched the last 2 minutes. Three presenters standing while standing around that tiny table.

First screening airs at 4pm Sundays, repeated most likely after MotoGP as well as Tuesdays at 10.30pm

Channel 10 nails Matildas coverage

Following Channel Seven’s mixed football broadcasts two months ago, Network 10 made no such mistakes on their Matildas debut.

Having recently shown Socceroos and FFA Cup action, the new home of Australian football demonstrated the women’s game appears to be in good hands.

Simon Hill and former Matilda Amy Chapman commentated the match perfectly with the duo bouncing off each other well and Chapman providing great insights.

At half-time and full-time, an enthusiastic Niav Owens hosted an engaging panel compromising of Georgia Yeoman-Dale and Sarah Walsh as Channel 10 started their Matildas coverage on the right foot.

It’s set to be a big few years for women’s football in Australia with Network 10’s coverage of the new W-League season hopefully only going to give the game a growing audience.
