Network Ten and Paramount+ Football coverage

Around about 2015 seems about right for the falloff in tv watching for the ALeague. That’s when Optus got the rights to the EPL. Fox Sports used to run matches from the ALeague running into the Saturday EPL Pre-show and matches. I believe this helped to raise local football interest.

I’m not convinced it is that high on a consistent basis.

Probably didn’t help that the shift to Summer to find some clear air has seen the period become progressively busy.

Did 7 ever have the AL?

Don’t listen to anything this disgruntled former employee has to say. Lead hit-man for Fox and co.

Exactly, this actually has nothing to do with 10. 10 contract NEP to run their FTA games and national team games. But of course Robbie uses this as a great opportunity to bash 10 for not hiring him (much like Tim Gossage does the same).

Yeah I wonder why that was

There’s the digital Dubzone program for the women’s league. How we don’t have a men’s version I don’t know.

That happened in the 90s.

No I think he was referring to when seven had the NSL and the coverage was diabolical. There was a saying at the time “nobody screws soccer like seven”.

Yes, I was referring to the NSL coverage on 7 which was a total disaster.

Did 10 show a Liberty A-League women’s match last weekend? As according to the TV guides 10 will be showing a Mini Match of it

I think 10 did show the Mariners-Sydney match. It was moved forward to 3pm because the Mariners v Adelaide men’s A-League match was postponed a couple of days beforehand (the men’s team couldn’t make it back to Australia in time to prepare for the match due to flooding at Dubai Airport - see my previous post).

10 Bold will show the A-League Women grand final between Melbourne City and Sydney FC, live from AAMI Park, this Saturday (May 4) at 3.30pm AEST.

I thought 10 would have done an hour long preview of the Final.

A 45 minute preview is still good though, as kick off is 4.15pm.

For ALW? Haha no, they’ve only been having a 5 minute before kickoff start on the streams.

In the past they did an hour long preview.

For the ALW Grand Final?

yes
