Network Ten 2018

Given the launch of Ten All Access some time later this year, I wonder if they are planning to merge Ten Play with it down the road to avoid the congestion of Services available, as Ten Play currently carries the same services as Ten All Access will likely have (Stream Content + 24/7 feed of main Channel) as well as exclusive content as it is with CBS All Access.

Seven’s relaunch of PLUS7 as 7Plus provides a similar service in a way to All Access (exclusive premium content) as does 9Now, so that way it’ll be 7Plus, 9Now, and Ten All Access to choose from each of the big three Networks.

I think if they have too many sub-brands (Ten Daily, Ten Play and Ten All Access) it’ll muddle up Ten’s online presence even more, keep it simple with Ten Daily for General News, and Ten All Access for digital content, or merge Ten Play with Ten Daily to carry over program content (MasterChef clips and info for example), and Ten All Access solely for Streaming full programs and the main Channel feed. Well, that’s my two cents. :stuck_out_tongue:

With Pilot Week approaching, I wonder if we’ll hear more info about Ten All Access around that time…

I doubt they’ll merge tenplay and soon to be launched all access, the latter being an over the top subscription service with premuim catch up on past shows which I’m sure they’re securing a back catalogue of local content currently as well as international from CBS’ vast library of content which isn’t tied up in deals down under already.

They will also likely go down the route of commissioning local series to be exclusive to the service (possibly airing the first episode on tv then the rest on all access like they’ve done in the US) to launch the platform and drive subscriptions which is ultimately what the aim of this all is.

My hot tip is that TEN play will remain as the free to view service (streams, catch up tv) … ten all access will be the subscription base.

The only issue with that is that TEN will have to give the viewer a good reason to “upgrade” from Tenplay to the subscription version. TEN All Access will have to offer a compelling product - consider that Tenplay AND the opposition already has live TV and catchup for free, a key component of CBS All Access. Also consider that many CBS All Access exclusive shows are already tied up to other networks and platforms here.

All things I’m sure they have considered and are confident they can launch the All Access offering in Australia which is part of a bigger picture for CBS Corp globally.

TEN play will be free with perhaps the last month of catchup tv, If you want the back catalogue youll need all access.

Kind of silly to have two competing platforms when they could have all the content under the one umbrella. Catch up tv can remain unlocked for a limited period and people wanting the back catalogue and other exclusive “all access” content can be encouraged to pay the subscription fee.

I agree.

As far as the livestreams are concerned, I wonder if we’ll have a situation where SD livestreams (of content on terrestrial TV) will remain free to watch with HD livestreams being something you’ll have to get a subscription for?

The more online presence the better! Who cares if there is tenplay aswell as all access! You’ll either watch one or the other!

I agree, as Ten’s online presence has gotten confusing since the introduction of Ten Play, with All Access coming into the picture they’ll have 3 different sub-brands on 3 seperate websites, whereas I think it would be better to keep it at a minimum. Some of the basic features can be available to all, with a subscription required for the rest. Having Ten Play’s current services on All Access would entice people to jump ship to the new Service for a start.

Agree with above.Ten Play should be closed and replaced with All Access. We don’t need 2 streaming platforms, thats just confusing the situation IMO

Why do you keep saying who cares? The viewers might not initially care but when All Access launches they’ll be confused at which service to use and for what. By having All Access makes the brand less disjointed.

The launch of All Access will mark a fresh start for Ten and a farewell to a stained service in Tenplay.

Also, the name “All Access” emphasises that everything Ten related can be found on the Service, having Ten Play with much of the same features still in the picture will just confuse people. The current service isn’t very highly received either at the moment, All Access should be the start of a new leaf under CBS ownership.

Ten would need a new main website then wouldn’t it if they got rid of Tenplay. Couldn’t really imagine their day to day operations running through TenAllAccess.com

It’s a shame that ten.com is a porn site, isn’t that one of the reasons why they stopped ten.com.au?

I noticed that CBS uses cbs.com/all-access, maybe they could relaunch ten.com.au and do ten.com.au/all-access? I also noticed when typing in the old address, “ten.com.au/gameofgames” pops up as a suggestion. Hmm…

Also, which one of you clicked on that link? :joy:

It made me physically sick that type of Porn is not my cup of tea!:open_mouth:

Or they could rename the site to ‘www.cbs10.com.au’

I made sure I clicked on open in incognito instead.
