Netflix

Unfortunately you’re right, especially in the US with their fascination with royals (so much so they’ve put one back in charge!)

Little bit of a PSA, just saw Netflix have acquired rights to the Aussie series Secrets & Lies which I’ve been waiting to come up on a streaming service for ages.

10 announced a few years back when they had their Summer of Aussie dramas on 10 play that it would be added to the platform, but it never did.

I know what I’ll be binge watching tonight.

8-part limited series The Four Seasons, starring Tina Fey and Steve Carell and based on the 1981 movie of the same name, premieres this Thursday (May 1).

Netflix turns on programmatic for Aussie ad buyers

Starting this week, Netflix has enabled programmatic guaranteed buying in Australia for buyers using Google’s Display and Video 360 (DV360) and The Trade Desk.

The capability rolled out in the US last year and in the UK, Germany, France, Spain, and Italy in February. It gives advertisers the ability to target audiences based on genre, geography, and device. Buyers can also now place ads alongside Netflix’s top 10 shows in specific regions with standard pre-roll, 30-second, and 60-second ad slots.

Erik and Lyle Menendez, who have served roughly 35 years of a life-without-parole prison sentence for the 1989 shotgun slayings of their parents in Beverly Hills, were re-sentenced today to 50 years to life, immediately making them eligible for parole.

The decision by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Jesic does not automatically mean the pair will be released from prison. They will have to appear before a parole board, which will recommend whether they should be available for parole. The recommendation would then go to Gov. Gavin Newsom,
who could reject their release.

It’s not yet known what the Netflix deal will mean for Australia. ABC TV currently has the broadcast rights here.
