I recorded it tonight and just watched the scenes with the long term and early characters. I’ve largely ignored it since the mid '90s but I’m aware of some of the more landmark, iconic storylines that get brought up in media reports and are featured in retrospectives. Quite weird to be watching Stefan Dennis and Peter O’Brien talking about Ramsey Street folklore considering I watched these actors in the show as a schoolboy when it was on Seven in 1985.
Given I had largely tuned out of Neighbours on a regular basis from the mid-1990s, I was surprised to realise that from The Guardian’s Neighbours quiz I happened to know something about various characters and storylines that took place years later. I guess years of reading TV Week has seen some details sunk into my memory, although I admit a couple were pure lucky guesses!
I got 25 out of 30 although the last question is not technically correct, none of the characters have been with the show from the start, at least all the way through. Paul Robinson was in the first episode but left the show for about a decade before returning in the early 2000s.
22/30 for me. Lots of guesses and names I didn’t recognise. I’ve seen various media reports in the last few weeks describing Jason, Kylie, Guy, Ian Smith and Annie Jones as “originals” when they actually aren’t.
I got 24/30. A few ‘interesting’ options as possible answers.
I think if you compare episode 1 to now, the only characters to appear this week are Paul Robinson, Scott Robinson (though Jason Donovan didn’t pick up the character until 1986), Lucy Robinson (different actress also) and Shane Ramsay. Des Clarke might be making a later appearance this week?
David Clencie, who played Danny Ramsay, who had the first words in the first scene of episode one, has had recent comments on Twitter apparently feeling snubbed by the producers in that he approached them about making a return to the show but they never responded to him.
Francis Bell, who played Max Ramsay, died many years ago. Dasha Blahova, who played Maria Ramsay in the first season, I don’t think has been heard of again since leaving the show.
The characters of Jim Robinson, Julie Robinson, Helen Daniels and Daphne Lawrence/Clark have all died.
I would love to see some cameos of the other Lucys, maybe have one of them as a casual passer by at Lassiters who bumps into Melissa Bell as Lucy and they have a stare off at each other… like, who are you?? or they meet Paul Robinson who says, don’t I know you from somewhere??
Nice of 9 to pay tribute to the show and interview Ryan Moloney (aka Toadie), even if it was just to slip in some Menulog advertising:
Kind of heartbreaking how loved this show is by everyone as it’s ending (and the absolute neglect of the past 12 years or so). At least it’s getting the send off it deserves but probably says something about the state of the Australian television industry overall.
Pretty good acting then - isn’t that how we all feel on family zoom chats?
When other networks are paying tribute to this show, we really are losing something special.
Its unfortunate that most (in the Australian market) completely forgot this show existed thanks to 10 treating it so poorly over the last decade.
I think this sums it up pretty well

Yep… couldn’t have said it better.
Notice the real estate company on the top left of the “for sale” sign? That’s how Paige (Olympic Valance) returned for Neighbours’ finale week.
How fantastic is this… easily the biggest back-lot in the southern hemisphere. Soon to be all gone.

Love this celebratory print!

Has it been mentioned on here the ghost of Madge is apparently happening? LOL
Yeah last week I think.
And I’m glad they are. Why not?
I remember Desperate Housewives ended with a whole heap of past characters who had died all wearing white in the street. Was a nice nod
I didn’t say I was against it. I just saw it all over media reports and didn’t think it had been mentioned.
Watching this week, they’ve already jumped the shark, so may as well keep going now!
Oh never said you were.
I meant it as a “look why not” ![]()
