I don’t understand all this talk of betrayal and hatred for the revival. Most of the actors and crew were happy it returned and many of them returned to work on the show because they love Neighbours. They all had the option not to return. Some took that option (although some weren’t given a choice to return) but the majority came back.
Some strange choices were made to storylines when they came back and then some actors had reservations. But this is a soap opera and strange storyline swerves happen all the time. In the past 40 years there have been many actors who weren’t happy with storylines or character development. Quite a few left the show for that reason.
Let’s not forget that the show has had some very unpopular storylines like a whole family being killed off, characters presumed dead who came back from the dead, an evil twin separated at birth and family members created from two very unpopular retcons from the past etc. They’ve even had regular actors come back to play a different character which annoyed long term fans.
From the comments we’ve seen on social media from cast and crew, the majority have only good things to say about the show and the revival. Even the ones who left years ago appreciate Neighbours for what it is. It would be wise to just end this current run on a positive note, with the hope it may return again in some form in the future.
