That was tied to the Telethon they held that year. The Knights also had it on their sleeves, as NBN sponsored them as well.

Not the best photo I know (this one was from the Bulldogs website), but yep…
I think 2002 was the last year NBN Television was on the sleeves of Knights jerseys, as NIB seemed to take their spot from 2003. Although even after that, it’s to my understanding that NBN has continued to sponsor the Newcastle Knights in some way or another (with their logo still making it onto training shirts, on-ground billboards, press conference backgrounds, etc.) - probably even right up to the present day.
