NBN News

Yep, it’s still like that to this day. No streams for Tamworth, Coffs Harbour and Central Coast.

As long as NBN News keeps making money and keeps rating well, I doubt the suits in Sydney would risk playing with something that already works.

Even Seven’s takeover of Prime/GWN saw no change to the news status quo (except launching noodle updates in Mildura), noodle markets are still getting noodle updates and local half-hour markets are still getting a local half-hour.

Major incident at Murrurundi in the Upper Hunter that started at 1pm today. Nothing on NBN News tonight. New England Highway closed for hours

It was a siege, probably couldn’t get near it in time to film the story and send it to Newcastle/Brisbane to put it to air.

It should have warranted a voice over with “Breaking News” graphic, as opposed to nothing at all.

I know it’s done in-house but, WIN News has news that occurred around 5pm often on its bulletin so surely NBN can work something out considering it happened hours before the bulletin aired.

They could have even said major incident at Murrindindi in Upper Hunter, New England Highway closed in each direction, please avoid the area, more news as it comes to hand.

Anybody Have Footage From The Newcastle Knights Winning The 1997 ARL Grand Final From The NBN News Bulletins Could You Please Send Some Footage Please?

It was posted on their Facebook page. New England Highway was blocked in both directions, maybe they couldn’t get anyone from either Newcastle or Tamworth (which is closer).

I agree - even if they couldn’t do it at the start for whatever reason, could’ve done it at another point in the bulletin.

Poor form IMO.

Could’ve just done a short RVO, even in the local window - Seven QLD has managed many time to re-record parts of bulletins to include breaking news, sometimes with just minutes before the live Sunshine Coast bulletin goes to air.

You cannot assume everyone will check a news site for an article or even Facebook. It is a national route A15, so it should have given some advice on TV. There are traffic queues past Blandford (7km) out according to one Facebook post with no suitable diversions available due to flooding on Pages River crossings.

If they can post it on Facebook, they can insert a brief statement in their news bulletin

The M1 accident last Tuesday happened around 3pm but made the evening news. It just demonstrates the neglect by regional stations where there are no local news competitors.

Seven did an “as live” cross to a reporter outside the Tamworth Police Station to cover it.

Not being able to get someone to the scene is a bit of a copout - shows how much interest there is in developing news outside of Newcastle

There’s so many other ways to cover news without vision. Newsroom cross, graphics (ie - map or explainer or newspaper images) or just an old fashioned live read down the barrel of the camera. Not doing any of those is just poor form.

I was only going off all the official notices I got in my FB feed, and at Live Traffic where it did show the incident. It probably is poor form, that I do agree with. Shows the budget is being cut by QTQ or Nine higher-ups for live news outside Newcastle.

Imagine if Seven brought back news in Newcastle and actually did an effort…

Apologies for the quality (at the pub!)

Very ordinary supers… but seem to be doing a good job at covering the rain and snow across Nth NSW.

During the 1st lightning induced stoppage at NRLW Magic Round, Gavin Morris was mentioned as someone they contacted to see when the storms would stop so they could come back on the field. And he was mentioned as “Gavin Morris from NBN Television”.

Not Nine Newcastle, not Channel 9, not Nine Northern NSW, not even NBN News. NBN Television

They have not helped themselves in that respect with inconsistent holistic branding (including socials). It’s a mess, has been ever since they went HD in 2016 and still is.
