I think the 5.30 Northern Rivers and Newcastle bulletins were still being streaned live, but no catch up option (as was the case before with the 6pm bulletins).
NBN News is still on 9Now both live and some catchup videos under âNews & Current Affairsâ
I quite enjoyed the bulletin. As was said earlier it was fast paced, but I found that better than what we normally had.
In Newcastle, I think the 9 News promo in the first ad break was from the Sydney feed, only because the ad following it (Adobe Acrobat) ended and crashed into the last 3 seconds of a local ad.
Correct me if Iâm wrong, but even after the cuts NBN News is still well resourced compared to other WIN News regions.
Give it time. To prove the naysayers wrong and regain advertisers confidence, WIN would have thrown everything at tonightâs bulletin. Iâm sure weâll gradually start seeing more interstate âtraveller packsâ creeping into the bulletin as the bosses down south take greater editorial control, and reducing or eliminating stories that carry any legal risks.. which WIN simply canât afford.
I wonder if it will look as slick when WIN have full control over the production of the bulletin.
The WIN bulletins Iâve seen in the past have look quite amateurish at times
Depends if they run with updated graphics or not.
Iâm guessing WIN doesnât have or wonât spend the $$$$ for a system like Nine has.
Might be harder to do whilst the NBN brand remains since those are WIN News branded.
May also depend on how well NBN News rates in its new timeslot over the next few months.

Last nightâs rating for the first 5:30pm news was 101,000
The WIN News in other markets totalled 153,000.
Good to know.. was there a 9 News figure for Nth NSW?
I only have access to 4 Regional Aggregate (NNSW, SNSW, Queensland, Victoria)
Nine News 327,000 last night. Last two Mondays were 335,000 and 310,000.
This reeks of when 10 tried to spin 10N+ as national news followed by local news.
WIN, learn the lesson 10 apparently didnât here.
121,000 in NNSW for 9News at 6pm to be #1 program for the day ahead of 7News in 2nd with 112,000. As @TV.Cynic has posted, NBN News at 5:30pm pulled 101,000 to come in at 4th for the day.
I think WIN will be happy with those numbers, just got to keep them there. There could be a novelty / curiosity factor at play here too.
This lineup has worked very well for years on Nine Gold Coast. Looks like a slick production.
9news Sydney With Peter 6pm Except Gold Coast Wich Has 9News Queensland With Melissa and Joel
WIN had better hope that, and the familiarity factor, continues to work in their favour.
Which is a completely irrelevant point given it was printed in the Newcastle Herald
So the problemâs been WIN all along I suppose. From a clip of last nightâs bulletin, I agree itâs a pretty good product but thatâs with Nine still involved and still having a decent amount of the experienced reporters they had before.
A key thing by the sound of the bulletin structure would be them likely recording it more like how Prime do things - recording it âas liveâ - and then doing the local windows, rather than how WIN just piece together all the headlines and basically run a playlist of intro and report.
If thatâs the case, as well as just dealing with the much smaller number of bulletins, that can certainly help keep the quality up there - as long as they keep doing things that way once you have local production, and then if not live, as close to live as possible reading the intro for the day so they can adapt to breaking news.
A drop from 130k to 100k is probably sustainable with the cuts WIN made to staffing levels, but if they get lower ad rates from being outside prime time, and then it begins to dip, they might want to go further. They should instead go the other way and look at how NBN were able to get 2/3rds the audience in 1 region that WIN get from 4.
