NBN News

There was a lengthy period in between “Newsnight” and “NBN News - Late Edition” where they aired Nine’s “Nightline” in the mid 1990s.

I think the late edition finished around 2002 or 2003.

I’m amazed that the NBN News branding has lived on for more than a decade after all other promos, station IDs, bugs, etc. were rebranded as Nine… and 20 years after NBN was actually acquired by Nine.

It just goes to show the importance of the NBN brand for the region that it serves.

I still find it odd that they changed the main channel brand, but not the news brand.

If it was that important, they should have kept both.

Agree that NBN still retaining some of its branding is an amazing feat given all that’s happened since regional markets were opened up.

I think NBN being able to hold onto its branding, voice overs and some local shows after being taken over was a sign that it was still quite profitable. And that the upper management that stayed on were very good at pressing their case to higher ups at Nine.

If you speak to anyone in the region it’s still referred to as NBN, the community outrage if it were to chzbfeviver the years would hurt the botttom line too much so NEC took the easy line, WIN seem to as well at this stage which is smart considering the backlash already.

I sincerely hope not. I would much prefer the WIN and NBN News thread be kept separate

Chicken dinner!! :rofl::rofl:

I’m not surprised.

Though I’m surprised it’s not in the WIN News style. Does this mean WIN News will get relaunched in this style too, or if maybe it’s just a transitional move to a WIN News rebrand possibly as soon as September when the Newcastle control room is up and running.

Yes very telling.

Wish we could see 6pm ratings in Newcastle and NNSW all next week in comparison to the last 12 months average. I think it will take a significant hit in both ratings and revenue.

Seriously they have no idea what they are doing. So there are dots in the tv promo but not in the social media promo??

Still using the Nine theme and Nine graphics with NBN is interesting

I posted earlier an attempt to benchmark the numbers by using the difference between the 5 City Metro and the national average, using the last regional ratings we had for the 6pm hour to estimate how much of the current number is NBN.

The gap is pretty consistent, so it’s something we can watch for in the numbers we do get, though wouldn’t be shocked if the real numbers leaked if they are really bad.

If they code the 5:30 NBN News as WIN News then that should start reliably making the top 30 given how it currently usually falls just outside.

Lol at the lack of dots in the Facebook post… I assume the TV promo itself is network/QTQ?

Possibly something to do with it still being controlled up in Brisbane until the end of September. I assume they won’t be able to load WIN’s prehistoric look into their systems. A possible mishmash of a WIN and 9 style look for a few months.

I wonder if there is still an arrangement with Nine to continue controlling this bulletin until the NBN control room is built? I don’t see how WIN could be controlling this bulletin in Wollongong just yet (otherwise they wouldn’t bother with a new control room)?
