I saw that there were 10 new posts in this thread in the last hour and thought something BIG must have happened in tonights bulletin.
All I saw was commentary on energy companies and Mark McGowan.
Oh well.

Same. Making discussion out of just lighting in Honeysuckle? Give me a break there.
It was my lame attempt at humour that derailed this thread. My apologies to all
Nah all goodā¦ weād all go barmy if we had to be straight and serious all the time on this forum.
To be honest, I think they all need to move on. He was never that good as a newsreader.
Donāt know why Iām surprised it makes sense but the news desk screen is just a light box?
This set seems awfully cheap. Would it really have cost that much more to make it slightly more cohesive?
Better than Gavin thoughā¦
I havenāt seen much of him reading the news to be honest.
Iāll be interested to see how he goes with Natasha, and how that works out with him doing the weather as well.
New year, same old NBN Honeysuckle News with errors seconds after going to air.
Opening supers stayed on screen during first story, which was Betty White. The background of Betty White changed mid-read, back to NBN News logo.
Almost time to put this out of its misery if you ask me. Relay the news from Sydney. Itās ridiculous.
There may be issues, sure, but it seems like a stretch to just abandon local news to hundreds of thousands of people just because they keep having a few minor technical issues
Sure but I mean until itās fixed and fixed properly. Its an absolute dogs breakfast at the moment.
One thing that is obvious - Brisbane canāt handle it.
Read the Facebook comments on the Newcastle Heraldās pageā¦ people are scathing of not just Lobbās sacking but of what they are seeing on screen.
Could Melbourne or Sydney run it? Even Perth?
They shouldāve kept it all in Newcastle instead of making it Brisbaneās responsibility to produce it
I donāt think it would matter where itās controlled from - remote control will always be problematic because someone else has to action the remedy from a distance. Itās not like the studio pilots in Brisbane are able to actually be in the studio to fix something straight away.
Either 9 will persist with controlling NBN from Brisbane or they will reintroduce local control. I suspect they will continue from Brisbane and over time they will perfect certain aspects, or even prerecord the Newcastle bulletin as well to minimise the risk of something going wrong live.
Shame to see NBN end up the way it has - in its day it was the leading regional TV station. The remotely controlled studio with just a talking head is often referred to a TOS(Talent only studio). 7 tried it when digital TV first started and the technology of the time was not up to it. Oddly enough 10 did get a TOS working in Perth and Adelaide but prior to that the Perth newsreader had to travel in Sydney (sadly a Perth girl took her own life doing that routine). As far as I am aware 7 and 9 on the Gold Coast both use a TOS, so if 9 Brisbane can do it there they should be able to get it working in Newcastle. Re the layoffs, it puts those staffers in a very difficult situation if they wish to continue working in TV - leaving town may be their only option.
Management should hang their heads in shame.
Jenny Webber GM and Head of News Darius Winterfield have destroyed everything that made NBN News greatā¦local news!
I think itās time to stop judging the talent and reporters and start questioning those behind the scenes.
Management couldnāt care less if NBN News died.
Other than the sacking of Paul Lobb, the turnover of staff has been incredible.
You can thank all that to Darius Winterfield and Jenny Webber.
After 60 years, NBN News may not last much longer than that.
The amount of errors and mistakes is solely managements disgusting choices.
That great that they are using NBN reporters but thatās not the problem the problem is the bulletin. Since the bulletin being controlled in Brisbane there has been multiple problems which has caused the bulletin to lose quality. Also sacking off staff is also not the best way going around, I sure 9 will get the hang of it, but at the moment 9 have made quite a mess of NBN.
I didnāt, nor would I.
