Is UCfm receivable with CVR off air???
UCFM is always receivable in Belconnen and Gungahlin. Tried it at Yarralumla and it was just static; my car radio desenses around there though due to Black Mountain.
I can sometimes hear a weak UCFM here in Bungendore but never CVR. Raw FM blasts in.
Checking 88.0 just now, I note the open carrier that has been on for at least a year has now vanished. Something at threshold audio- might be from Canberra or even Goulburn.
Bankstown and Surrounding Areas Community Radio Inc.
On air on 107.9 in mono from Hurstville, NSW with 500W Vertical polarisation from
17/2 to 18/3 with Arabic lang. programming.
BTW does anyone know who the Arabic language broadcaster is on 151.9MHz from Sydney. Not listed in ACMA database. Has some adverts for Auburn businesses.
This would probably create interference from a particular station from Lithgow in some areas.
Yes 107.9 is a mess in Stanhope Gardens with the TCL over the top of Move fm. The TCL actually starts interfering with Move fm around Clarence on the edge of Move fmâs Licence area.
89.5mhz would be the perfect frequency for TCLâs in Sydney rather then 107.9.
500W is very powerful. Considering SWR is only 200 W. I get a pretty clean signal at Pennant Hills given its Mono. Pretty similar (or maybe better than HHH) from Hornsby (this is inside an apartment).
That is why it travels quite a fair distance right up to Dargan in the Lithgow Licence area, and starts cutting in over Move fm at the Cafe.
Thankfully for Move it is an isolated area of the Lithgow licence area so there would be minimal impact to listeners. However if there was a major town there and lots of listeners were affected Midwest Radio would be making a lot of noise about it.
In those affected areas it might be argued 99.5 FM can help fix the gap.
For those in the greater Sydney region:
Is anyone receiving a blank carrier transmission on 88.0 FM?
The SDR is detecting a blank (unmodulated) carrier on 88.0MHz.
I have what I presume to be My88FM Penrith on 88.0, but thereâs now another
new signal there.
Could My88FM be testing another transmitter in the Winmalee, Lawson or North Richmond areas?
Hopefully not new local interference, the new carrier is very wobbly.
Took the radio to the A-League on the weekend, and was on the other side of the stadium. Could not pick up anything on those previously mentioned frequencies. Must be restricted to the Northern side of the stadium.
Thankfully, Super Rugby is back at BankWest on Friday, will see if SportsEars is working there on its normal frequency.
Show Radio Sydney scheduled from April 1 to 12th on 107,9 from Sydney Showgrounds with 500 Watts.
I donât know if this fits here or under the Pirate Radio thread. I am picking up a station on 87.5mhz playing all Australian music similar to the format of the old Noise Fm.
It was on air yesterday too. Most likely a pirate as all low band LPONS are on even frequencies.
Just receivable under the splatter of 87.6 River fm.
I was at Blacktown the other day and 87.6 was alternating between two different country stations. One was River FM - does anyone know what the other one is? There was no ID between songs when I had it on.
What will be rather interesting to see/hear this year is whether Show Radio will continue to use Nineâs radio news bulletins or move over to another provider.
Even though Seven took over from Nine as sole FTA sponsor in 2019, it wasnât really so much an issue back then because the radio bulletins were still Macquarie National News at that time. But now the rebrand has happened with a rival TV network (Ten - first time theyâve sponsored a Sydney Royal Easter Show since 2005) being the sole FTA sponsor of the 2021 event?!
I somehow doubt something like this would ever happen, but itâd be great if AFTRS were to one day present their own news bulletins for Show Radio with a mix of Royal Easter Show coverage and more general news (likely from AAP or another wire service). Itâd be a good platform for a few up and coming journos anyway!
Why wouldnât they use Nine News? They donât say things like âfor more on this story watch tonight at 6 with Peter Overtonâ.
Besides, thereâs plenty of suppliers of radio news in this country. More than just Nine News. Theres AIR News (General), Vision Radio News (Christian), NIRS (Indigenous) and NRN (just for community stations). Iâm sure one of them would be more than happy to supply for a short duration.
The national news from Nine rarely mentions Nine from what Iâve heard, so I canât see how it would be a problem anyway if they took that service.
Edit: And 2GB is a Show sponsor.
The (Sydney) Show Radio FM transmitter has been switched on a little early. Program began at exactly 8pm today on 107.9FM. Scheduled to began on April 1. Country Music playing after initial âShow Radioâ ID.
Surely the conditions of the temporary licence do allow AFTRS to do a brief run of test transmissions?
Because they have started Show Radio a day or two before the actual event opens to the public in previous years.
Iâve no idea. I heard the open carrier shortly before they began programming at 8pm & thought they were testing. As I type this the programming has stopped & started again, so obviously still testing
I agree they need time to test equipment beforehand.
I doubt anyone is complaining, thereâs only 27+ hours before licence commences & may go on/off air up until April 1st.
BTW they have a FB page at: Show Radio
Indeed, I have noticed the âon and offâ nature of tonightâs 107.9 broadcasts.
Who knows if weâll get to hear them this year, but the best bit about listening to the test transmission phase of Show Radio in the past has been the opportunity to hear a number of clean music beds (News, Weather, Traffic, Hourly Open) used for talk breaks on the station during the dayâŚeven if these havenât been updated in several years!
If I could make any criticism of the signal (when programming is running of course), itâs that the audio sounds rather compressed.
But at a time major broadcasters like Nine are having major problems staying on air, itâs hard to complain too much about what the students at AFTRS are doingâŚ
