They’re deadly serious about cooking – but these two South Australian mates are anything but serious in the kitchen.
Fifth-generation funeral director Angus and his best mate Simon are bringing their wicked sense of humour to My Kitchen Rules - coming soon to Seven and 7plus - with their aptly named instant restaurant “Last Orders.”
“The only thing we’re burying is the competition,” laughs Angus, who is determined to blitz his competitors in Australia’s favourite home cooking show.
The pair met 11 years ago working in a pub and have been mates ever since, bonding over good food, good times and plenty of laughs.
Recently engaged, Angus is a natural entertainer with a dry wit and plenty of stories, while Simon is his methodical, recipe-focused offsider.
Chalk and cheese in the kitchen, the pair are hoping their contrasting styles will be the perfect recipe for success.

Colin Fassnidge told Sonia Kruger at the red carpet that there was a walkout and a table flip during day two of filming for the upcoming season.
Edit: two more teams were introduced during the Logies telecast: Filipino nurses from Melbourne and “bogan ladies” from Adelaide.

With a flair for design and dinner parties – Blue Mountains married couple, food stylist Jane and builder Shane, are ready to make their mark on My Kitchen Rules, coming soon to Seven and 7plus.
Bold, creative and always impeccably presented, the pair describe their cooking as “vibrant, passionate and packed with flavour.”
Jane, who says she’s “more of a taster than an eater”, is confident and unapologetically opinionated. She knows she can replicate any dish and plans to prove that style and substance can absolutely share a plate.
Former hairdresser turned builder Shane is the calm to Jane’s storm. Laid-back and level-headed, he knows exactly when to step in - and when to let Jane take centre stage.
Together, they are out to prove their taste in food and fashion is a cut above the rest.
Their Instant Restaurant will be as bold and beautiful as they are, with striking food, plenty of personality and a few surprises designed to turn heads and ruffle feathers.

Meet My Kitchen Rules besties Alisha and Deanne
Chaotic, brash and bursting with energy, My Kitchen Rules best friends Alisha and Deanne don’t just enter a room – they take it over!
Expect big laughs and complete kitchen madness when the self-described “classy bogans” serve up simple, home-style dishes packed with flavour, including Alisha’s nan’s delicious sticky date pudding and Deanne’s crowd-pleasing birria tacos.
Describing their dynamic, Alisha said: “We’re two peas in a pod. We’re both chaotic, loud, in-your-face, crazy, funny and quick-witted – and we have absolutely no filter.”
Deanne added: “We have massive personalities and are basically one brain. We always say we must have been switched at birth because we should be twins.”
Alisha and Deanne met at school as teenagers and have been inseparable ever since. They spend almost all their free time together, constantly “yapping”, rarely giving anyone else the chance to get a word in.
And if anyone comes for them at the My Kitchen Rules table, watch out – these proud, “classy bogans” will give as good as they get.

Best friends determined to put Filipino food on the map
Boisterous, spirited and full of heart, nurses Mary and Golden are ready to serve up the vibrant flavours of their Filipino heritage when My Kitchen Rules returns to Seven and 7plus.
The best friends met while studying nursing in the Philippines and moved to Australia in 2004 to find a better life.
Mary believes Filipino food is underrated and deserves more attention. “We want to show that our food is made with love. Sharing our cuisine, culture and roots on MKR is our way of thanking Australia for giving us a new home.”Golden adds: “I want Australians to experience Filipino cuisine in all its forms. Through our food, I hope they see just how hospitable, generous and caring Filipinos are.”
With Golden’s calm, grounded nature balancing Mary’s infectious energy, the pair are determined to put their heart, heritage and friendship on every plate.

Australia’s greatest home cooking competition is back, and bigger than ever. A brand-new season of My Kitchen Rules returns to Seven and 7plus at 7.30pm on Monday, 28 September.
From bustling cities to regional towns, MKR travels across the country to uncover a diverse group of passionate home cooks from all walks of life.
Best friends, siblings, parents and children, partners and unlikely teammates all come together with one shared dream: to prove their food is the best in Australia.
Culinary icons Manu Feildel and Colin Fassnidge return as co-hosts and judges, bringing their trademark camaraderie, expertise and passion for discovering the country’s best home cooks.
Manu describes the new season as “exciting, fiery and spicy,” with the teams serving up menus inspired by Australians’ appetite for comforting food and value for money.
His advice for teams hoping to take out the title? Stop watching the clock.
“I know it’s easier said than done, but try not to focus on the clock,” Manu says. “The clock is your enemy. The more you watch it, the more stressed you become – and the slower you work.”
For Colin, preparation is the secret to success.
“The biggest skill a team can have is a plan B and a plan C,” he says. “Expect things to go wrong and have something in your back pocket to fix them.”
Expect plenty of big personalities, bold flavours and unforgettable moments.
