Taylor Swift wins Most Popular International Artist at ARIAs, her fifth win overall and third straight. No surprise there.

Presenter Melanie Bracewell accepted the award on her behalf.

On both the singles and albums chart, Taylor Swift has been knocked off top spot by Olivia Dean and 5 Seconds of Summer, respectively.

On the Singles Chart, “Man I Need” becomes Dean’s first number one single in the country; “So Easy (To Fall in Love)” and “Nice to Each Other” occupy spots five and nine respectively.

On the Albums Chart, “Everyone’s a Star!” has debuted at top spot. “The Life of a Showgirl” drops to number three.

Surprised 5SOS still have so many fans since their singles don’t seem to chart. Their publicity tour has helped them debut at number one. Good to see.

I guess Olivia Dean’s tour has helped push her to number one too. Saw her perform at the ARIAs and her performance sounded exactly like her recording. I think she has the potential to be a big star.

Olivia will be back here next October for an arena tour and I’ll be going to one of her Sydney shows.

I wouldn’t wish anything bad but it was about time Tay Tay got knocked off both the singles and albums perches. She had spent six weeks on top in both.

At the rate Olivia Dean is going, she could become as big as Dua Lipa.

I think Taylor Swift’s current music is very overrated. She’s just producing the same schlock every album but sadly teenage girls are lapping it up.

Also on the albums chart, the 40th anniversary edition of Jimmy Barnes’ For The Working Class Man has debuted at No.2. It coincided with the FTA premiere of Working Class Man documentary on Seven on Monday this week.

Kind of ironic that it debuted at #2 since “there ain’t no second prize”

Every time I hear them shouting the lyrics at her concerts[1] it just makes me ick. No really, it does. Just a commercial cash grab, has no soul to it whatsoever. The talk-shouting as I’d like to call it from diehard fans makes it a sad sight to see. I much prefer legendary music compared to the stuff that’s played on Top 40 radio nowadays.[2]

  1. Yes, shouting. When I say that, I’m questioning to myself are they really singing along with her, or are they just so obsessed with shouting the lyrics of her songs? ↩

  2. Rock on! :guitar: ↩

I’m not a Swiftie lol.

The everytime bit is clearly me hearing this stuff out of curiosity for context and not because I enjoy her music. Let’s be honest though, some of her older music is timeless, but the stuff pumped out now is just nothing more than a commercial cash grab, generic music lol.

Honestly, you can barely even hear Taylor singing in this. Replaced by fan screams.

City Square has been closed for the past eight years for the construction of Metro Tunnel’s Town Hall station. After today’s concert, the square will close again for final touch-ups before it reopens permanently next Sunday, November 30.

On Saturday, Peking Duk will feature guest artists including Ben Woolner, Kye and Lucy Lucy and perform a host of their top hits. In addition to the duo’s set, Keli Holiday will take to the stage for a special performance of his recent chart-topping single DANCING2.

UPDATE 26/11: Herald Sun reports Bonnie Anderson will perform the Australian national anthem before the match starts. She missed the gig last year due to a delayed flight to Melbourne.

I seriously hate this song, Keli’s arrogance and I used to be a fan of Peking Duck

I wonder if the Foo Fighters will eventually announce another return to Australia for 2027, after their show in Tasmania.

I say this because immediately after Coldplay performed a pair of shows in Perth in November 2023, when many thought that would be their only Australian stop on their Music of the Spheres World Tour, they announced they would return to Australia to do a few shows in Melbourne and Sydney twelve months later.
