The song is getting its lion’s share of Australian spins from Smooth. Not exactly the station you would turn to for new music.

“I would like to be called Mr. More Baseball,” the country star tells Variety, the day after singing the National Anthem at a World Series game that went to a record-tying 18th inning. “If you’d like more baseball, I’m your guy.”

It’s not that this was an isolated occurrence. The previous time a World Series game went to an 18th inning, back in 2018, Paisley also happened to be singing “The Star-Spangled Banner.” In fact, all four times he has sung the anthem before a Series game, it has gone into extra innings, although not always as radically as these two instances.

Her music is very retro sounding like late 60s early 70s.

Aussie artists take on streaming giants to win back local fans

Aussie music artists led by Keli Holiday and Thelma Plum have united to fight against the torrent of international music flooding streaming platforms with a new campaign to game the algorithms.

The #AUSIFY Your Algo push attempts to arrest the crisis facing homegrown talent with less than 10 per cent of songs streamed in Australia created by local artists.

Peking Duk’s Adam Hyde said the artists simply wanted local music fans to seek out new homegrown releases online rather than passively listen to curated playlists dominated by international superstars.

The more Aussie music people play, the more the algorithms will serve up our next big hits in your feed.

An explainer video launching the campaign features a raft of artists including Shannon Noll, Nina Las Vegas, G Flip, The Rubens and 3% to highlight the diversity of our local scene.

The algorithms are killing Australian music.

Right now, and as far as I know one of the only Australian artists whose music is being played regularly on the radio are remixes of old songs by Cyril whom I’ve heard lacks creativity (though he did release an original song with James Blunt earlier this year, I think).

C91.3FM has been playing music by Mia Wray, Kita Alexander and Dani Marchio though.

Sorry for the late response to this, but I didn’t know about this… thanks.

I guess the demise of the compilation album is almost here, which is sad to see as I have a soft spot for them arising from some of the classic compilation albums of the 1980s, but inevitable in the wake of streaming, whereby you can effectively create your own compilation album these days.
