I was alrighr, just had a hypo that wrecked me. I was good by the afternoon.
After four decades, Sydney Symphony Under the Stars, a summer tradition of free concert music by the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, has been cancelled for 2026.
Parramatta City Council has pulled its $400,000 annual support from the Sydney Festival and the January extravaganza, a hugely popular community event which has historically closed the festival and set the tone for the orchestraâs annual season.
On the ARIA Albums Chart, Olivia Deanâs sophomore album âThe Art of Lovingâ has debuted at number one.
But itâs not expected to be top for too long, with âThe Life of a Showgirlâ by Taylor Swift expected to take top spot when the albums chart is updated next Friday.
So it seems both Seven and Nine gave her new album extended coverage in news bulletins yesterday.
I canât ever remember a news bulletin ever covering the release of a new album before⌠is it THAT big/good, more of an indictment on the state of music today (not many studio albums seem to get released nowdays, even less that have mainstream appeal), a slow news day, a combination of all three or other?

I also remember the massive hype that came with the release of Midnights and The Tortured Poets Department in 2022 and last year, respectively.
IIRC, Taylor Swift took up the whole top ten, plus positions 11 and 12, and over half of the top 50 on the singles chart when TTPD dropped last April.
I also agree with you that Swiftâs domination is a poor reflection on the current state of the music industry as a whole, too.
Bonehead will miss the Australian leg of Oasisâ tour.
Just throwing in my few cents worth given the dominance of American artists (think Taylor Swift, Teddy Swims, sombr, Benson Boone etc) on our airwavesâŚ
I think British singer Olivia Dean is a nice breath of fresh air. She has the potential to become as big as Dua Lipa; sheâll be doing some arena shows next October.
Hereâs something for the NRL to think about for their 2026 Grand Final pre-show entertainment (though I must say Teddy was a fantastic get for the game).
Speaking of Teddy Swims, I wouldnât be surprised if, on his next visit to Australia, he starts doing stadium shows (Accor, Marvel, Suncorp etc).
After what I saw last night, I donât see what the attraction would be - he is a good singer, but had zero stage presence
Taylor Swiftâs 12th studio album, âThe Life of a Showgirl,â released on October 3, 2025, is projected to achieve 4 million equivalent units in its first U.S. week, surpassing Adeleâs 2015 record of 3.38 million for â25.â The lead single âThe Fate of Opheliaâ reached 100 million Spotify streams in under five days, setting a new platform record, while the album broke single-day streaming highs on Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music.

(takes deep breath) OK, OK, Iâll admit it, I bought her new CD the other day (based on hearing a couple of streams on Spotify, at least a couple of her songs sounded pretty decent).
Iâve had hankering to buy a new studio album CD for a while now since there hasnât really been anything I liked enough lately! The last one I bought was the Rolling Stones âHackney Diamondsâ in 2023, so yes, itâs been a couple of years!
And i like to own the physical product rather than a download or rent (stream).
I listened to it on Spotify the day it came out. So, I canât talk. ![]()
On the New Music charts (of which only the top 20 is counted), Taylor Swift has unsurprisingly taken up the top three.
Iâve checked the top 50 singles/albums and neither have been updated (just yet).
The Life of a Showgirl has debuted at No.1 on the ARIA albums chart.
Plus all twelve tracks have taken up positions 1-12 on the singles chart. I think itâs about time that there is a limit as to how many songs by any artist can chart at the same time, with Sabrina Carpenter and sombr among those whose songs have flooded the singles chart in recent weeks.
Some of the songs from last weekâs chart drop at least 12 positions this week, with âMan I Needâ by Olivia Dean dropping to #14. However, Dean does get a new entry on the singles chart with âBaby Stepsâ coming in at #46.
On the Albums chart, last weekâs chart-topper âThe Art of Lovingâ drops to number three.
