Just my personal opinion. One of two for the week (not including “Bye Bye Bye”)

I think it’s interesting how Australia leads the world with trends sometimes.

A Bar Song (Tipsy) was number one in Australia for about five weeks before it hit number one in America.

Now, Birds of a Feather has been number one for a couple of weeks here, while Britain is just catching up and it’s up to number two there this week but up to number seven in America.

I had to cringe a little at the ABC News NSW 7pm preview captions on that story… It was “What’s The Story, Reunion Glory… They Don’t Look Back In Anger”…

On this week’s ARIA Charts:

Singles
Sabrina Carpenter takes up ten of the top 50, including new single “Taste” which debuts at number one.

Albums
Not surprisingly, Carpenter’s latest studio album “Short n Sweet” has debuted at the top of the charts.

Elsewhere, David Kushner has released his debut album, “The Dichotomy”, which features the viral and universally successful smash hit “Daylight”, which is the last track on the album.

In some sad news that has come through this morning, US rapper Fatman Scoop has passed away aged 53 after collapsing at a concert in Connecticut.

On this week’s ARIA Charts:

Singles: Sabrina Carpenter occupies three of the top four, with Taste, Espresso and Please Please Please in positions 1, 3 and 4 respectively. “End of Beginning” by DJO has dropped out of the top 50 after six months.

Albums: Carpenter retains top spot with Short and Sweet. Disappointingly, David Kushner’s debut album “The Dichotomy” has failed to chart inside the top 50, despite it spawning the highly successful hit “Daylight”.

Kushner turns 24 today.

Armstrong is best known as the singer-guitarist fronting Los Angeles rock trio Dead Sara. They have released three albums, beginning with their self-titled 2013 album, which features their biggest hit, Weatherman.

Prior to Dead Sara, Armstrong provided backing vocals on Hole’s final album, Nobody’s Daughter, at the invitation of frontwoman Courtney Love. She also has writing credits for Demi Lovato and Awolnation.

Linkin Park have simultaneously announced the departure of drummer and founding member Rob Bourdon.

Stepping in on the drum stool is Colin Brittain, a multi-instrumentalist, producer and mixer whose clients include Australia’s own G Flip, Papa Roach and All Time Low.

That’s an unusual change, going from a male lead to female lead singer.

I think a female lead would still work well for their style of music.
