Ricki-Lee Coulter’s first album in 10 years, On My Own, has debuted at No.3 on the ARIA albums chart. It is also No.1 on the Australian albums chart and No.4 on the vinyl albums chart.

Who has a favourite movie soundtrack? Or song originally written/sung for a movie?
I recently re-watched “Kill Bill: Vol. 1” (2003). The climactic ‘O-Ren Ishii’ revenge scene with the ‘Crazy 88s’ fight had a lovely tribute to Ennio Morricone with “Death Rides A Horse” (the impeccable piece from said spaghetti western). Tarantino was an admirer and lover of old Hollywood: https://youtu.be/Q53CNvFg9Fw?si=UHBE4Nc7cLUYdYrE
Another Morricone, even more iconic and famous, is of course “The Ecstacy of Gold” from "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly: "https://youtu.be/PYI09PMNazw?si=HGIPc8er5L_Q8AHV
And another track from the opening of Kill Bill that is fantastic is “Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)” by Nancy Sinatra: https://youtu.be/vPh7y_KkyjI?si=PT5_oqpU-xuHJNc0
Mine would be the “The Secret Of My Success” soundtrack (Michael J Fox) movie.
I liked Love Spit Love’s cover of The Smith’s How Soon Is Now? that they recorded for The Craft. Also later used for Charmed.
The seasonal So Fresh compilations are sadly no more. They’re moving to an annual compilation of hits for the year to be released in November.
Well that’s the end of an era for me, going back to my first “seasonal” compilation album purchase, Throbbin 84, purchased almost exactly 40 years ago now (April 1984).
That reminds me, do they still do those Now compliations in NZ anymore? I swear I’ve haven’t seen a new edition of those in ages.
I also think the NOW compilations (which began in 2002 and were at the time powered by the Hot30 Countdown) have been no more for quite some time now.
Wound up in 2021 in NZ I believe. Fortunately - they live on as Spotify playlists with the original album artwork.
There’s some of that for some of the old 80s compilation albums too, with dedicated playlists for the tracks that are available from it, but there is usually 2 or 3 songs missing.
On Thursday night, Nine News reported the whole event was cancelled due to slow ticket sales. The news report included footage of festival organisers hanging up on a journalist when asked if the event was going ahead.
On Friday morning, Pandemonium insisted the festival would still go ahead in a post on Instagram and Facebook.
“YES, we saw the news reports. NO, Pandemonium is not cancelled,” the post read. “We’re still selling tickets … Only take your Pandemonium news from us.”
Two headliners, Deep Purple and Wolfmother, have removed Australian tour dates from their websites. All other headliners have Pandemonium’s dates still listed. The mixed messaging and lack of clarity from organisers have left many ticket-holders confused.
In the animated US comedy program’s 1996 episode Homerpalooza, which sees Homer takes his children to a music festival, a staff member asks who has “ordered” the London Symphony Orchestra (LSO) “possibly while high” before adding: “Cypress Hill I’m looking in your direction.”
On July 10, Cypress Hill – comprised of B-Real, Sen Dog, and Eric Bobo – will be joined by the LSO and conductor Troy Miller, who will provide orchestral arrangements of the band’s songs including hits from the 1993 album Black Sunday.
Spotify has officially demonetised all songs with less than 1,000 streams | Euronews.
Last week Spotify officially demonetised all tracks with under 1,000 streams annually – a new policy that could see nearly two-thirds of tracks fail to generate any royalties.
