Seems as if it’s from overseas. Not many local artists except ones that have succeeded overseas
Agreed, MTV Classic was better years ago, not sure what’s not right with it now but hope it just improves over the next few months.
Found a few recordings from years ago. Variety of music, plenty of Aussie content, professional look and feel. I’m sure was done completely locally then where now I believe maybe out of Europe
Hope this is a good sign… Saw a John Farnham clip and promo featuring Cold Chisel last night on MTV Classic.
That’s a step in right direction.
Some of the versions of the clips are clearly international ones. I saw a savage garden clip which was never aired here
Weirdly, MTV Classic on SKY NZ has switched to a MTV 80s since the start of the month (i.e. when it returned in Australia). It’s hard to tell where it’s coming from and the presentation is rather budget.
I’m wondering if the two are connected.
I’m sure you are right about it being connected
This is a pic from a recording in 2012 from the channel, when it was output in Australia for both here and NZ.
Hard to see however picture quality was great, and in correct ratio
Yep, it left when it shut down in Australia but then returned around 2017 or so. A shame if they’re focusing on the Aussie market and just giving castoffs
Are they still in australia or not? If not, why?
The channels have just returned.
Ok thanks
That’s what it seems. From what I read it was outsourced for play out internationally, however difficult to know it’s returned.
The ‘old’ version seemed to be programmed locally. They used to have Aria charts on from the past, with some great stuff
The idents, graphics all looked professional. Now it’s almost embarrassing.
I’ve been looking at some old videos from around the era and the polish across pay tv was second to none.
Now even the channel names aren’t as creative ‘Fox One, etc’
That’s all that can assume.
When the channel was originally on it had a great degree of local content, including some clips that the Foxtel channels didn’t have
The look and feel was professional as expected for a premium channel
Have had a constructive email and conversation with senior management at Foxtel and Viacom regarding the music channel changes, in particular in regarding to Classic and CMT, which I thought some of you maybe Interested in.
-The channels are currently in the process of ingesting more local clips, which will be done over the next 8 weeks.
-Programming is being reviewed and might be tweaked shortly
-From a technical quality perspective it’s likely to improve with obtaining a better feed, however not guaranteed to be the original ratio as per the previous run channels.
Will continue to monitor; it’s not the same as Max however likely to be an improvement over what is currently on air
I thought I’d read Viacom were programming the channels out of the UK
Thanks for following up and letting us know!
That sounds promising.
Let’s hope so. Still a dissapointing change from the excellent local channels
No. They made quite a big deal saying the channels would be programmed and produced in Oz. Considering it’s been planning for months - seems strange they have access to so little Oz cyclops. My g
I’m not convinced its currently happening - the amount of local content I’ve seen has been shamefully low, especially for a channel that is said to be programmed here.
The comment that Chrisg got from Viacom about more local content over the next 8 weeks suggests that perhaps the localised programming of the channels is in the works
Seems like a big stuff up by Viacom. Over promised and under delivered big time
You have to think Foxtel servers had all the aussie clips and could have easily been sent over to Viacom
