MTV Reveals Nominations For 2024 Video Music Awards, Taylor Swift Leads With 10 Nominations.

MTV has revealed the highly-anticipated list of nominees for the 2024 VMAs, celebrating artists whose cultural impact and work during the last 12 months have revolutionised the music industry and sparked global conversations. Taylor Swift (10) leads, looking to continue her record-breaking streak for Video of the Year and shatter her own record to become the only artist to ever three-peat and win 5x in the coveted category. Swift is closely followed by her Fortnight collaborator Post Malone (9), Ariana Grande, Eminem and Sabrina Carpenter (6 each); Megan Thee Stallion and SZA (5 each), LISA, Olivia Rodrigo and Teddy Swims (4 each).
Both Sabrina Carpenter and Teddy Swims are among the 29 first-time VMAs nominees, with Benson Boone and Tyla (3 each), Chappell Roan, Jelly Roll, Jessie Murph, Rauw Alejandro, Sexyy Red and Victoria Monét (2 each) also first timers receiving multiple nods. Other first-time nominees include Alexander Stewart, Burna Boy, Coco Jones, Flyana Boss, Gracie Abrams, Gunna, Joyner Lucas, Laufey, LE SSERAFIM, Lojay, Morgan Wallen, Myke Towers, NCT Dream, Pheelz, Playboi Carti, RAYE, Shaboozey, Tyler Childers and The Warning.
Fans can vote for their favourites across 15 gender-neutral categories, including the highly-coveted Video of the Year , presented by Burger King®; Best Collaboration; and Artist of the Year categories, by visiting vote.mtv.com up until Saturday, 31 August, thanks to The General Insurance®; voting for Best New Artist will remain active into show on Wednesday, 11 September. Nominations for social categories will be announced at a later date.
The 2024 VMAs return to New York from UBS Arena to celebrate the biggest names in music with headline-generating surprises, one time only performances and a fan-filled audience. The 2024 VMAs will stream live on Paramount+ on Wednesday, 11 September with a pre-show from 8.30am AEST, leading into the live awards show at 10am AEST. An encore screening will broadcast that same day at 9pm on 10 Peach Comedy.

The VMAs will now be held on Wednesday, 11 September, and stream live on P+ in Australia on Thursday, 12 September.

The network noted that in observance of the 23rd anniversary of 9/11, MTV will again support the nonprofit 9/11 Day, which organizes the September 11 National Day of Service and Remembrance, and Tuesday’s Children, which serves the families of 9/11.

MTV has announced that Rita Ora will host the 2024 MTV EMAs. Returning to the MTV EMA stage to a packed-out audience at Manchester’s Co-op Live on Sunday, 10 November, international, critically acclaimed singer-songwriter Ora will soon become the show’s first three-time host.
Rita Ora said: “I’m over the moon that I get to be back with my MTV family hosting the EMAs for the third time! The EMAs stage has become like another home for me, and this year’s show in Manchester is going to be absolutely incredible! We’ve got an amazing lineup of music performances and plenty of surprises in store. We’re all ‘mad fer it!.”
