First time in more than 15 years the movie airs on Nine, also the first time Nine has the entire Star Wars collection thanks to its deal with Disney.
I believe Nine will show one Star Wars movie each Saturday, culminating with Episode VIII: The Last Jedi on November 23. The Last Jedi will be FTA premiere, while Episode VII will be Nine’s first screening. Not sure about the other five titles though - have they aired on Nine before?
Interestingly, they used to be licensed by 20C Fox (10 last aired them around 2011/2012 under that output).
After Disney acquired Lucasfilm (who hold rights to all but the original) licencing switched to them, returning rights to Seven in 2015 (but must’ve been only one or two runs).
FTA premiere, from Nine’s deal with Paramount. Nominated for best costume design in the 2017 Academy Awards.
Hollywood classic “Bonnie and Clyde” (1967) 9pm Saturday week on 7flix, another oldie from their WB output.
NB/ They’re pulling good shares. Saturday just gone “Singin in the Rain” and “Casablanca” both letterboxed format and one B&W and against NRL Prelim Final got the channel nearly 4% share.
Among the titles are FTA premieres of Thor: Ragnarok, Atomic Blonde and Pacific Rim: Uprising. The promo also mentions Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but I think it will air on main channel first before repeating on 9GO!.
Cars 3 from Disney and Pixar had its FTA premiere tonight on 9GO! as part of 60 Movies, 60 Days.
Hollywood blockbuster classic “The Towering Inferno” (1974) is currently airing on 7Two. It premiered on 10 in the early 80s, securing them the No. 2 ratings spot. Previously also aired on Nine from the early 90s too.
It was also a box office bonanza, securing well over $100m, for its time enormous, even still big for some films today.
Yes, it pushed Ten Sydney into second spot in the weekly ratings, but to clarify the SMH reported that the movie won its timeslot on a Sunday night in late March 1981 with a peak of 39%.
Seven have the first run rights to box office smash hit “IT” (2017), FTA premiere Thursday week on 7mate. Will air uncut MA15+ at 9pm.
Been wondering when this and similar smash hit “Jumanji” (2017) would air.
I reckon it’s a FTA premiere. From Sony Pictures.
From Warner Bros. It was a worldwide box office hit when released in 2017. A sequel titled Godzilla v Kong will be released next year.
Seven will be showing the reboot of Planet of the Apes trilogy over three Friday nights, starting with Rise of the Planet of the Apes tonight. It will be followed by Dawn of the Planet of the Apes next week and the FTA premiere of War for the Planet of the Apes the week after.
Planet of the Apes re-boot/re-imagining trilogy from 2010s
NB/ AFAIK all three are actually FTA premieres, don’t believe 10 aired “Rise” or “Dawn” (only STV/Foxtel). Although Seven’s promo used “for the first time on 7”
Did the copies provided by Disney to Seven (2015) and Nine, for all films excluding the first remove the 20C Fox fanfare?
Because they did for digital copies on iTunes, YouTube, etc. (But the first which is licenced by Fox still keeps the fanfare, just like @Zampakid’s cap above).
Of course that original Star Wars movie should not have the News Corp version of the 20th Century Fox logo. I hate movies being changed.
Yeah I noticed that too.
So you hate the “Special” Editions of the original Star Wars trilogy, right?
