The Married At First Sight couples’ retreat helped give Nine another win averaging over 1.8 million for the second consecutive week. The result was equal with the previous Monday but lower audiences later in the night saw Nine down two. Seven was up two while ABC lifted to its highest Monday share of the year. 10 and SBS were slightly lower.

Australian Idol’s top 21 continued but the show’s numbers dropped to just under 900k, down 35k on last week. Survivor Australia’s latest episode was up 40k to the show’s highest ratings since the launch episode.

ABC’s Monday saw Australian Story and Four Corners both over 700k for the first time this year while Media Watch outrated both with 724k to make the top 10. Q&A ‘s second episode of the year didn’t capitalise on the lead in, dropping 20k.

Nine featured a split schedule after MAFS with the return of Footy Classified in AFL states and Rise of The Dolphins in NRL territory for a timeslot audience of 377k. That was against Suits L.A. that was back with its second episode dropping 30k to just 242k while NCIS: Sydney managed 164k on 10.

The Oscars telecast drew a big daytime audience of 474k that compared to the 2024 ceremony that saw 467k tune in. The late finish may see the number adjusted later. The night encore that didn’t start until after 10pm and ran past midnight had just 101k compared to 324k last year.

Seven News had a narrow 60k in the 6pm news battle. That followed the afternoon where Tipping Point surged to 785k, its highest rating since August last year while The Chase had 617k. And at 7pm ABC News posted a 2025 high.

In the morning Sunrise had its highest rating since September last year while Today, 100k behind, had one of its highest numbers of the year.

  • Married at First Sight was the No. 1 program of the night across Australia and in all five metro capitals with all key demos and Total People. It registered a National Total TV Reach of 2.949 million and a Total TV National Audience of 1.827 million - up 11.7% year-on-year. On 9Now, it achieved a BVOD audience of 512,000 - up 32% year-on-year.

  • 9News won its timeslot with Total People across the 5 City Metro and in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. The combined national bulletins registered a National Total TV Reach of 2.183 million and a Total TV National Audience of 1.320 million (up 12.5% on the same night last year). On 9Now, its BVOD Audience of 129,000 was up 51.8% year-on-year.

  • A Current Affair won the 7.00pm timeslot with all key demos and Total People across the 5 City Metro and in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. It recorded a National Total TV Reach of 1.931 million and a Total TV National Audience of 1.153 million. On 9Now, it recorded a BVOD Audience of 137,000 - up 31.7% on the same night last year.

  • Tipping Point Australia was the No. 1 afternoon game show across all five metro capitals with Total People. It achieved a National Total TV Reach of 1.472 million and a Total TV National Audience of 785,000 - up by 68.4% when compared to the same day last year.

  • Footy Classified - Monday achieved a Total TV National Audience of 215,000 and a BVOD Audience of 31,000. In Melbourne, it achieved a Total TV Average Audience of 118,000. *Vic, WA & SA only.

  • Today was the breakfast program of choice with Total People in Melbourne and Brisbane. It secured a National Total TV Reach of 851,000 and a BVOD audience of 43,000 - up 34.4% on the same morning last year.

  • The 9Network was the No. 1 network on Monday across the 5 City Metro with all key demos and Total People.

9Now was the No. 1 CFTA BVOD platform on Monday with all key demos and Total People.

The Oscars did well for the daytime slot with 474k viewers. Surveillance Oz that followed at 2.30pm (Oscars overrun and ads) got 391k. Beat the Chaser UK just made the top 30. The Married at First Sight repeat against the Live Oscars did better than i though.

Don’t know if it’s possible TV.Cynic, but how was ABC News doing in BNE last night? Be interesting to see the whole picture as to where SE Queenslanders went to get their cyclone news.

Strong figures for the season premiere of Footy Classified even without long-time host Craig Hutchison and panellists Kane Cornes and Caroline Wilson, who all defected to Seven in the off season.
