Farmer Wants A Wife won a competitive 7.30pm timeslot with 918k to be even with last week. That was despite extra competition that came from the return of Travel Guides that had 830k. Meanwhile it was another MasterChef elimination night with 693k tuning in down from 744k a week ago while Deep End: The Scott Miller Story premiered at 8pm on ABC to 616k.

Have You Been Paying Attention? was a timeslot winner with 727k down 50k from last Monday. The Rookie on Seven was down 35k to 427k. For Nine’s twin footy shows were back in the top 30 this week with 100% Footy averaging 166k and Footy Classified on 181k in AFL territory. On ABC, Four Corners lifted to 541, Media Watch had 555k and Planet America 500k.

At 6pm Seven News topped the day’s viewing with 1.54m to lead Nine News with 1.401m. The 5pm game show contest got underway for another week at 5pm with Tipping Point on an impressive 908k, its second highest rating of the year ahead of The Chase with 784k.

At 7pm Home And Away was the top entertainment show with 1.03m. It was up against A Current Affair that won the timeslot with 1.047m and ahead of ABC News that had 995k. Millionaire Hot Seat on 10 had 348k.

SBS’ World Cup coverage included four live games. From 1:30 AM Spain’s 4-0 win over Saudi Arabia missed the top 30. The 4:30 AM match that saw a nil-all draw between Belgium and Ir Iran had 225k. Then the 2-2 result for the 7:30 AM Uruguay V Cabo Verde contest had 418k. At 10:30 AM New Zealand’s loss to Egypt in Group G had 567k.

Sunrise had another impressive morning with 444k to lead Today that again failed to top 300k with 293k and News Breakfast that missed the top 30 with 213k.

A rare timeslot loss for Travel Guides (new and repeat).

The FTA premiere of the first episode of Two Years Later missed the top 30 in total people, but made the 16-39 and 25-54 demos lists.

NINE’S MONDAY NIGHT LINEUP DELIVERS A 9NETWORK WIN WITH PEOPLE 25-54 & 16-39

  • Travel Guides won its timeslot with Total People across the 5 City Metro and in Brisbane and Adelaide. It secured a National Total TV Reach of 1.747 million, a Total TV National Audience of 830,000 and a BVOD audience of 121,000.

  • 9News was the No. 1 news program of the night with Total People and all key demographics across the 5 City Metro and in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. It registered a National Total TV Reach of 2.138 million and a Total TV National Audience of 1.401 million. On 9Now, its BVOD audience of 221,000 was up 44.4% year-on-year.

I suppose out of 10s timeslots, everything was kind of like for like compared to last week, except having news+ later, whilst having lower ratings, still improved the late night slot. However there seemed to be tougher competition elsewhere so the shares didn’t grow (total people - martingale and 5 cities), but probably would’ve been worse if they didn’t show “2 years later”
