Another Monday rolled along, a public holiday in some states, with Nine taking out its seventh consecutive Monday win. Most shares were similar to recent weeks though Seven’s network share lifted thanks to a 4.1% share for 7Two. Nine again won all key demos with 10 second.

Married At First Sight scored another easy win despite posting one of its lowest audiences of the season in linear viewing. It was still 300k clear of second-placed Survivor that was even with the previous Monday with the show’s fourth +500k result. On Seven, a disappointing result for Australian Idol, down 50k from the previous week, the show’s second lowest rating of the season in the lead up to the final. The show ranked 12th in key demos.

Seven News was the number on entry for the night with one of the bulletin’s biggest audiences of the year. That was 140k ahead of Nine at 6pm. At 7pm A Current Affair saw Nine on top of the rankings though with its lowest Monday audience of the year. Home and Away and ABC News also dipped week-on-week.

For ABC, Media Watch did well to outrate the rest of the broadcaster’s line-up that featured Australian Story on a 2023 low and Four Corners on par with this year’s numbers.

Later, Big Miracles managed 300k for Nine which was 65k lower than the previous result while Would I Lie to You? Australia on 10, was down 20k on last week.

The afternoon broadcast of The Oscars did well for Seven with a first run audience of 329,000. That compares to 277,000 for last year’s broadcast. The evening encore that ran past midnight was down 10k on last year.

The last of Us season final did well for Foxtel.

Public holidays in Victoria, ACT and South Australia meant more people staying at home and watching the Oscars live on TV. I certainly did.

The Last of Us dipped from last week, unlike in the US where the drama set a new record audience against the Oscars telecast.

The cricket topped the pay TV ratings as the test match fizzled out to a draw.

The 5pm portion ranked 15th in Perth and was second in its timeslot ahead of Nine’s afternoon news.

I just hope this hasn’t destroyed The Voice. That show needs to start far away from here. September at the earliest. Give it room away from Australian Idol.

Its still great, its just the sydney gap is much much closer between MAFS and Survivor than in Brisbane.
