Yes I thnk so, and there was some deal where 7 showed Family Feud which was made by 9 at the time. It seemed like straight swap.

I don’t believe that’s entirely true. For example, SAS10 did not screen_ Family Feud_ even though it was produced at TVW7, its sister station. It was bought by ADS7 in Adelaide. In any case this is irrelevant to the topic for this thread and this particular discussion continues in the TV History thread: General TV History - #70 by TelevisionAU

Getting a bit off track there.

I just think they decided to focus on the highlight of his life which was the Countdown years. They probably could have spent another two hours covering the years before and after but probably just chose to stick to the pinnacle of his career. If they had covered the other years they would have mentioned Hey Hey and the rest, for sure.

Some of those events or highlights not covered most likely had something to do with getting the rights to the music, either permission was not granted or they were asking too much.

ABBA are famously known for keeping a tight reign on who uses their image and music. There were some very famous interviews that didn’t make the cut or weren’t covered in detail like Michael Jackson. Also, there were some famous dance competitions tied in with movies like Saturday Night Fever that didn’t rate a mention.

The soundtrack album stays on top of the ARIA albums chart this week and is now certified platinum.

I’ve enjoyed watching old Countdown episodes recently and seeing the real Molly hosting his ‘Humdrum’ segment on that show.

Does anyone know of any encores of the documentary?

Congratulations to Samuel Johnson who won the AACTA for ‘Best Actor in a television drama’ last night, for his portrayal as Molly Meldrum

8:30pm on 7Two on Saturdays is usually a movie.

I like what Seven did a few weeks ago in the same timselot, airing the “Catching Milat” (2015) telemovie in full (both parts edited together).

I presume that’s exactly what we’ll get with “Molly” this week (it’ll air until 12am>) though!

Exactly right but I think it would have been better screening Friday and Saturday nights.
