Mock Schedules

My idea for 10 next year in the 7:30 slot. A few new shows that they haven’t considered

Block 1:
Sunday-Thursday I’m a Celebrity

Block 2:
Sunday-Tuesday The Amazing Race
Wednesday-Thursday The Bachelor

Block 3:
Sunday-Tuesday The Masked Singer
Wednesday-Thursday Dog House/Ambulance Australia

Block 4:
Sunday-Thursday Masterchef Australia

Block 5:
Sunday-Tuesday Survivor Australia
Wednesday-Thursday The Bachelor: Listen to Your Heart

Block 6:
Sunday - Tuesday Making it Australia
Wednesday - Thursday The First Inventors

Block 7:
Sunday - Tuesday The Spy Games
Wednesday - Thursday The Bachelorette

Block 8:
Sunday - Thursday Come Dine With Me

Not sure where to put this, but spent a bit of time thinking about how 10 News First could run two local bulletins at the same time (obviously time changes and daylight saving make it tricky, but I think this could work for Syd/Bris during winter months). I’m assuming 4min ad breaks.

5-5.17pm - Local Top Stories (One city live, other city prerecorded at 4.40pm)
5.21-5.26pm - National Interest Stories (Both cities live - together)
5.30-5.35pm - More local stories + Top local sport story (City 1 - live, City 2 - prerecorded during first two ad breaks)
5.39-5.44pm - National Interest/Feature Stories (Both cities live)
5.48-5.53pm - Sport (both cities live, given the top local sport story could be done at 5.30)
5.57-6pm - Weather (both cities prerecorded during previous two ad breaks)
6-6.07pm - Top Stories again (City 1 - live, City 2 - prerecorded from 5.53-6pm)
6.11-6.15pm - National Interest Stories (both cities live)
6.19-6.23pm - More Sport (both cities live)
6.27-6.30pm - Weather (City 1 - live, City 2 - prerecorded in preceding ad break)

Sounds very full on. Another option could be to produce it like this

5pm Ten National News
5:30pm Ten State Edition
6pm Ten National News
6:20pm Ten State Edition insert

OR
5:00pm Ten National News
5:30 Ten State Edition
5:45pm Ten National News
6:15pm Ten State Edition

The state editions could be done with the same presenters in Sydney, Brisbane and Perth and the second Melbourne and Adelaide.

During Winter the Brisbane edition could be pre-recorded

Similar approach for a 7am Bulletin

7:00am Ten National News
7:20am Ten State Edition
7:30am Ten National News
7:50am Ten State Edition

State based inserts pre-recorded.

NSW, Qld and WA filmed by one team in one studio and Vic and SA in another. Tasmania would receive Vic editions. NT would receive Qld editions

The Midday Movie on Seven would be moved to 7Two, with game show block starting at 2pm starting with Million Dollar Minute followed by The Chase Australia and The Chase UK

What is Daytime @jb76?

The time of the day between sunrise and sunset

Ah, you got me @turdall.

I more meant what kinda show is at midday? Who is presenting it? Is it a news bulletin or like The Daily Edition?

I personally would just extend The Morning Show to 1pm as it is currently 2.5 hours anyway!

It would be a news program similar to Sunrise and the now defunct 11AM.

I would have Ann Sanders presenting it for the moment Monday to Thursday with maybe a different host on Friday, possible a senior reporter with the network, possibly Angie Asimus.

If Ten did move away from a 5pm News bulletin, this is how I think they would do it Monday to Friday, especially if Seven and Nine kept 1 hour game shows at 5pm.

5pm Family Feud - probably with Grant Denyer
5:30pm Wheel Of Fortune - probably with someone like Joel Creasey
6pm Ten News
7pm The Project

The alternative at 5pm could be Sale Of The Century possibly with a host like Rove McManus or a up and coming talent. I wouldn’t use Grant Denyer as you wouldn’t want to overwhelm viewers especially if Family Feud specials continue. Family Feud could also be a summer filler or screened for half the year at 5pm

Here is an idea for a new show. It would air during the day on the weekend. Brand Image would feature icon brands, the rise of some brands, and the rise and fall of others. The program would include history of the brand and classic ads from the products featured. Some brands/products could successes including coca cola, Pepsi, Smith’s chips and paddle pops, plus then the less successful such as Milka chocolate, dr pepper, Garfield hunger buster ice creams. Also I would include products that’s have changed their names such as golliwogs biscuits being renamed scallywags and Allora being changed to dolmio.

It would be a half hour show with between 2 and 4 products featured.

There are already 100s of these shows online/as filler on BBC Earth, Discovery CNN, etc…

I accept your argument BUT

  1. Not everyone has internet access
  2. Even if a user does have access, it doesn’t mean a reliable speed for such content
  3. Sometimes something nostalgic is refreshing on TV, hence why I suggested during the day

But there is no demand for this! If they needed filler, then why would they create a new one, when they can just buy one from somewhere?

I wouldn’t say there is no demand, I know quite a lot of people interested in that sort of thing. The same people like revisiting things about the past, which is why I also think that one of the networks should either produce a On This Day kind of show or integrated it in one of their breakfast/morning style shows.

I wouldn’t think there is a demand for umpteen cooking shows (Ten), 15+ year old repeats of a former prime time drama that had its debut episode air 6 times in the week it debuted (Nine) or cheap and tacky movies (Seven), but why do they do it - it’s cheap.

I would think there is enough talk shows around that they could fill their slots with these instead of those kind of program. If you put a camera in front of a wall that has just been painted, I’m sure there is someone that would watch it. I personally think that anything could attract an audience with the right promotion, but then to maintain interest in a concept, that’s a different story.

When I came up with the idea, I was thinking about my proposed Seven weekend schedule and using it as a summer filler for Kochies Business Builders, but then I guess you could just extend my proposed revival of Sportsworld on Sunday or Weekend Sunrise

Seven (if they decide to introduce a local version of Flashpoint to each market)

The presenters would be

Local edition (Monday to Friday)

  • Sydney: Angie Asimus (her 7NEWS Weather roster moves to Mon to Fri)
  • Melbourne: Mike Amor (Monday - Wednesday)/Jacqui Felgate (Thursday - Friday)
  • Brisbane: Kendall Gilding
  • Adelaide: Rosanna Mangiarelli (Mike Smithson replaces her on the weekend news)
  • Perth: Tim McMillan (Monday - Tuesday, Friday)/Samantha Jolly (Wednesday - Thursday)

National edition (Saturday)
Sally Bowrey

Nobody is going to sit through two and a half hours of Home and Away in one night. It’s not designed or written to be viewed like that.
